Have you ever made these?
Well I was in the mood for something sweet tonight, unfortunatly I didn't buy enough snacks this week because as of last Friday I was on a diet (that's blown now by the way, lol). So I decided to make some chocolate chip cookies. I use the Nestle Tollhouse morsels, and follow the recipe on the back.
So I'm going through my cupboards gathering my ingredients when I see the cocoa powder in there. Then I got the brilliant idea to add some to my cookies. I didn't follow a recipe, just made up an amount to add, and since it's unsweetened I added a little extra sugar.
They didn't come out bad, hubby and the kids like them. I just don't think they're as chocolaty as they could be. I think next time I'll add a bit more chocolate and a bit more sugar.
Have you ever changed a cookie recipe on a whim? How did it come out?

I change recipes all the time. I make my oatmeal raisin cookies and take out half the batter before I add the cinnamon and raisins and add some cocoa powder. I never add more sugar though. I use about a 1/4 cup for a half batch of cookies.
I tried substitutiing the butter in brownies for peanut butter before. That turned out good.

The cocoa powder I use is unsweetened, so I just assumed I needed to add more sugar to make it sweet enough. I added about 1/4 of cocoa powder (for a full batch) and an extra 1/8 cup of sugar.
So maybe next time I'll just add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder and no extra sugar.

Hey kats! That sounded like a great idea! I love that cookie
recipe for Nestle Tollhouse cookies! I think they would be
great adding some cocoa powder! Sounds like a great idea! I
do like to sometimes change a recipe at the last minute and
add something on a whim! It makes things more fun that way!
And if it doesn't come out completely right the first time
then there's always the next time!

Apparently I'm the only one who didn't think my cookies came out just right. Hubby liked them so much, he brought a batch into work with him for all his coworkers, I'll have to ask what their reaction was.

That sounds really good!!!And I have a few bags of chocolate chips left from the holidays. I just might have to try your recipe. One cookie recipe that is really good is the one that is on the side of the funfetti cake mix box. You can make cookies out of the mix. They are really good and soft. It is strange because they taste like the cake but its a cookie. Thanks for the cocoa idea.

I have made cake cookies before, and my husband loved them. I usually just do it following the recipe to make a cake, only I turn it into cookies. The last time I did it however, I only added a can of soda to the cake mix. It turned out good as well, you could taste the soda, but could also taste the cake, and it didn't have a bad flavor at all, it was just weird to taste the soda is all. I'm going to try that again with different flavors of cake and soda combinations.

Those sound like delicious cookies. I love chocolate. I often change recipes just to test things or because I need to due to lack of the listed things. I hae also changed thim if someone in my home doesn't like something listed and I can put in something they do like. I love to bake and to experiment when I do. I usually end up with something at least as good as what was in the recipe and sometimes even better.
