I have been friends with people that were complete opposite to me, but I still found them interesting and fun to be around, and I some how manged to find some common bond with them in fact, when it comes to friendship I tend to gravitate to people that are not like me at all I'm fascinated by people who are different then me, I think that some differences can be good as long as you have some form of common bond and respect for each other then its fine if you are not exactly the same.
So have you ever been friends with someone that is completely different from you or do you tend to be friends with those who are similar to you?

Well friends can have different interests but have to respect other interests and expect nothing.

Hi ya apples99
I don't think you can be a totally opposite to a person who is your friend as you must have something in common! I do have a friend who is very different to me, she swears a lot, she can be crude, the way she brings her kids up are very different to how I bring mine up, she isn't very polite, she likes to go out and get drunk, she doesn't seem to appreciate the help that people give her but for some reason we get on!!

Yes several of my friends are complete opposite of me. That could be the very reason we are friends. We balamce each other out.
Then didn't someone say that opposites attract?

I've often said that if I gathered all my friends in one room there would be a bloodbath! ALL my friends are different from each other. I get and give different parts of myself to and from them, and that makes for a constant learning experience. I despise 'yes ma'am' type of friends, and much prefer ones that challenge my thinking and touch my heart with the reality of who THEY are inside.

I have/had a friend who is totally different from me. I say have/had, because I have not heard from her in a long time. She drank, and I do not, she has a rocky relationship with her boyfriend, I am happily married. She doesn't have a stable head when it comes to money, I am more responsible with my money. She is a great person, and we got along fine, I hope I hear from her soon.

Yes I do have both of what you said. I have friends who are similar to mine and also some friends that completely different from me.
It really fun in making friends with those people who are completely different from you. I'm also fascinated with friends who are different from me. But not totally different, we have things that can be bond in common. Like, eating!
