I only recently learned how. One of the most important tips that I can share with you is that you should make sure that you're using and Adult sized hoop - the ones they sell in toy stores are too small so they won't go around you unless you sway your hips really really fast. You can buy adult sized hoops in sports stores :) Any tips? I want to learn tricks but am afraid to knock down the television LOL

Hello oyenkai! Well, I used to know how to do it but then now, even if I tried to I can't really do it anymore. I do use adult hula hoops now too but I really can't. At first, I thought I was just shy because someone was looking but when I tried to do it without any people around me, I just can't do it anymore.

Hello oyenkai! Yes, I am pretty sure I used the right one. My father made us a hula hoop made of wood. I can only 2 - 3 turns and it will go down eventually @thesharkman..that's what I thought too..hehehe

Wouldn't a hula hoop made of wood be too heavy to work properly? I think they need to be very light weighted and is why they are made of light plastic and hollow inside.

I have heard that hula hoop is a good form of exercise and it is really effective. i saw adult's hula hop in sports store and at one time I feel like buying it but I am having second thoughts. I remember that way back when I was a kid I got this for a toy and I know how to use it but I really don't know if i still got the skill after so many years without practice. Just make sure you use your hula in a spacious are in the house to avoid any damage or harm. Thanks for reminding me about hula hoops maybe I should get one for my self. Le's sway our hips together.

Hula Hoop - A lady doing the hula hoop
I use to always hula hoop when I was a kid. I love to hula hoop. The last time I had hula hoop was during the summer. My niece had a hula hoop and she didn't know how to use it so I had to show her. She got the hang of it. Its all in the hips, you have to know how to move those hips, lol. I didn't know they sell the adult size hoops. I can still fit in the kids size, I have a small waist.

I think you are supposed to use a hula hoop outside, not inside. Or at least in a room open enough where no furniture or knick knacks or appliances, etc can get hit and broken. I never knew there was an adult size in hula hoops. When I was growing up I think they came in smaller and larger sizes in the toy departments. Anyway, good luck. They are supposed to be good exercise.

I haven't hula hooped in at least 10 years! I used to do it all the time. Not sure I could do it anymore. Sorry! No tricks that I can think of. Just go with it.

I used to be able to use one, but that has been years ago. I have not been able to use one and I tried to use one last summer in walmart and could not , it was very embarrasing.

Ah the ever lasting hula hoop. Those things first came out way way back in the day when I was a kid in the late 50s. They were all the craze back then every one had one and every one knew how to get it twirl around their wait. I hated them I never could get the hang of it. You know most kids can learn any thing when they want to but that thing had the best of me. My grandkids had one a few years ago and I still could learn how to work it. I know it's all in the movement of the hips but mine just won't work with it.

Oooh hula hoop! The last time I used that was when err.. I was 9? I'm not really sure. But one thing I know is I used to VERY VERY good at it, hahaha. I have a very flexible tummy ;p Just graciously sway your hips, and bend your knees so you could control the rhythm of the hula hoop. Enjoy!

As a child I did enjoy playing that. I remember we had all sorts of sizes before and we snjoyed it very much. But right now, I really don't think I could do it like I use to as I have become a little bit big already. LOL! Well enjoy it since they say that it could help you form a good hips and curves for you body.

My mom used to be very good at hoola hooping and used to be able to do all kinds of tricks! I don't know any tricks, but I can keep it going for long periods of times without falling to the ground! I love to hoola hoop! It's a lot of fun!

I think you just have to get it, and go with it. Mainly moving your hips in a big circle, consistently. I am not that good at it, but I can keep it up for a while. Have a great day! Good Luck!
