What are your thoughts or views on "telephone actresses?"

I'm sure you know what I mean. One of those 1-800 or 1-900 numbers you call and talk to an "actress" for your thrills. I am one of those people who sound much younger than I am on the phone. People who know me, and know my quirky nature have often joked that I should become a phone actress. LOL Even my own mother several years ago suggested that I try it to make extra money. And just last night my 27 year old son said I should search for that kind of job. Yep, my son. Good thing we were on the phone otherwise he may have seen me grinning AND blushing. But, he knows that I've been looking for ways to make money from home since I'm disabled. Now I will admit that as a newly divorced woman some years back I did give this sort of call a try several times. But that grew boring after awhile. But a grandmother of two who becomes a "phone actress?" What do you all think of such jobs? Have you ever tried this type of "work?" Or, have you been a caller? Is that type of thing even legal? Hmmm and how do you suppose you declare THOSE wages on your tax return?

Hahahaha... I tell you, that's hilarious, no offense, just think of the people who go through this discussion and realize that they could have been talking to someone who has grand daughters and nephews while dialing those numbers. I mean, I tell you, that could be possible since it's only the voice that they really need, right? Why don't you go on ahead with that? and similarly since people do say that I really sound good on the phone, refer me to those types of job so that we could earn extra. I think those aren't illegal, I think they are just about the same with the callcenter agents we have or those phone secretaries to remind us with our appointments, right? Hmm.. You just gave me an idea, oh please tell me if ever you come across those jobs on how to apply, at least we won't get to show ourselves while doing that hahahaha else I'd die laughing. Though I haven't really tried calling those numbers, I'm wondering how do the men sound like? I've always thought that these were only open for men to listen in to women, didn't know men also did that? Oh, by the way, the people who work with those are absolutely great in creating the fantasy, though I'm curious if they ever did really feel something while doing their acting on the phone. Plus hey, those calls ain't cheap! hahahaha..

Yeah, the guy with the engagement ring was talking to the Marine. He just about threw up when he saw him!!! Just know after the first few days, it will become boring as it will lose its excitement...unless you enjoy controlling others' desires!!! I hope you enjoy & make a really GREAT income!!!

What I think of such people is that they're trying to make a living and if there's people willing to use these services then so be it... I don't use the service but if it paid really well and I could manage my own hours and if I didn't have my current job, then why not? very open-minded even about foolishness!

:) The thing I've learned in my research so far is you can work whatever hours you want. So you could do it at whatever time of day worked best for you. Interesting huh?

Actually TessWhite, I did look into something similar previously that was more to do with texting on your PC at home and they had a strict schedule and was working crazy changing shifts at the time... I suppose I just might look into it again as my schedule is more manageable now and I'd be infront of the PC anyway or my laptop most evenings The good thing about the site too is that they had good policies in place about vulgarity and profanity so it was not sleazy...:)

Hmmm that would be even better! Wouldn't be nearly as nervous chatting online - as long as webcams weren't involved. LOL Don't suppose you remember what that place was called do you?

I didn't have a clue what the heck the reference to a "Telephone Actress" was about on the homescreen and had to come in to the discussion to find out what it was....I must admit My first impression was wrong,in that I thought maybe it was about laid back screen actresses who were "Phoning in" their performances! (so,Wrong kind of laid back performance then!)I don't have a need for that type of service myself ,but I can certainly see the opportunities for a Sexy voiced "Actress" to make some money!

LMAO Well it didn't seem appropriate for me to flat out say hey, I'm told by everyone I have a really sexy voice. LOL I mean its bad enough when your own mother and son tell you that your voice is perfect for the job. Glad you figured out what my topic was referring to. Thanks for the reply. :)

Well I dont know much about those kind of numbers because Iv never called them nor have I ever been interested in calling those lines, its just not my thing, I think whats the point of calling those kind of lines anyway, because your probably talking to a guy named vera, LOL, and the whole thing is just going to drive your phone bill through the roof. and as for working for one of those lines well I think its your proactive, but like I said its just not my thing but if your comfortable with it then more power to ya LOL.

Hey tess! I say that if you can get a job doing that then why not! I've seen them interview some woman that do that for a living and when you see them they don't look anything like their voices! Not that it should matter since they seem to be able to get their job done!lol I used to have a nice speaking voice and sounded younger too and was told to do something like that too. But, now since I smoked my voice doesn't sound that great anymore! I think you should do it!

You could list it as a counselor! I see nothing wrong with it. It is totally confidential, and I have thought of this but I have a teen aged daughter in my house. Can you imagine? lol

Yea, luckily for me I don't have young ones at home. I'd just have to be sure family didn't drop in unexpectedly. LOL Otherwise they might get an ear full.

I am told that I have a very attractive speaking voice. People who talk to me on the phone for business are always trying to date me until I tell then that I am over 60! No, I would not do anything like this as at all. Something else will come up where you can earn the extra money that you need. Take care my friend. Blessings

Thanks for your input. But nothing else has come up for me for years out there. I've looked, for at least 4 years now for something that I can make real money at from home. Not pennies like I earn at myLot. :)

Well, how intriguing! Why not become one? I had never heard of phone actresses before. LOL!! But, I guess it could get boring after some time. :) Cheers and happy Mylotting

Oh yea, it can get boring. But what woman hasn't faked it a time or two, right? And at $24 dollars an hour, I can afford to put up with boredom. Hahahah. I think I'll find a site that pays well and check into it. The only problem I see so far in my research is the phone line issue. They have specific requirements that may mean I have to put in a separate line.

on your taxes you claim that you work in telecommunications. You are an independent contractor. I don't do that kind of work, but I have many clients who do. Are you on nightflirt? I'm a tarot card reader on keen.com. You can find my link in my mylot profile. Nightflirt and Keen are sister sites.

I've never heard of nightflirt. Guess I figured since I'm in a relationship I don't need to be there. LOL But, I can check it out. Thanks.

I have no idea as far as taxes or anything like that but I do know that it is an excellent way to make money! A friend of mine who used to do it said she was making some thing around $100 a call! Yeah it was actually pretty funny, we used to work together and I was still friends with her so we kept in touch. Shortly after telling me the story about how she made $100 in one call I was talking to another friend of mine who knew her as well and the funniest thing, I convinced him to call the number and talk to her and he thought she was the best girl in the world. It was hilarious because in real life he had never been attracted to her. But I think if you can do it then go for it. It doesn't matter if you are 20 or 80 the "customers" will never know.

LOL I guess I could try it and see if I can make some money. I could always quit if it gets too weird. :) A hundred a call would be great. So far I've seen pay of $24 an hour. Another said your pay is based upon quantity of calls. Yikes!
