What Slumdog portrayed might have been true a decade or two ago but not now. I feel that it is a little bit blown up. All films do this blown out of proportions to get their cash back. But I don't think that a silly movie can dent the India's image in the international stage. People still come here and see all things in their real way and the reel is only going to affect those who make conclusions by just seeing a movie. All nations have a section of poor and it only varies. Some nations are blessed with more natural resources than what is needed for their citizens survival and dignified living and so they may have less number of poor people and the standards of these poor may become a little higher. Also the social complexities also define how far a country can go. So I don't think that India needs to be teased for its poor since it has a billion to be fed and not much resources to count on. Also the social climate in India is one which polarise it and not something that unites it. So all the poverty alleviation programs may not reach their goal sometimes.
