Is cell phone necessary for every body?

I know cell phone is important for work. But if all they have cell phone, is necessary for them. I know many peoples who have cell phone, but in reality they do not need it. Then why they bought it? I know that it becomes a status symbol these days. But do not think so. I know that a 12 years old boy have a cell phone in my neighbor hood. And he have no need it exactly. Then it is a symbol for him. When i see him he always play games and listen hearing songs.

I dont really need mine, however once my daughter started school its very much needed incase I go out and the school needs to contact me, i dont text on it much i prefer to chat to people on the phone to be honest and so mostly mine is just for emergencys!
I dont think there is anything wrong with a 12 year old having one i do think its quite normal for young kids to have one now a days but it doesnt have to be a bad thing as long as the parents teach them to be responsible, and I guess it all depends on what you class as a need to have a mobile phone because I expect to a 12 year old having it as a symbol and to be like his peers is probably a very real NEED in his eyes ok so we might not think so but that should diminish the fact that everyones needs are different.
