I can't sleep in darkness as i am afraid of it even now lol. I sleep in dim light and i have one more habit even in summer i need a bedsheet to sleep. I need to cover myself so i can sleep even if its very hot outside.

Hello akangirl, didn't I see you in a move called "The last Legion"? LOL, anyway I love to sleep in the blackest darkness and with a little chill because it helps me sleep and if something can get you in the dark then it may get you in the light, have a nice day.

i can sleep in either situation.. im used to sleeping under the bright light because i shared my room with my brother when i was a kid and he usually keeps the lights on while im there sleeping on my bed because he sleep late at night.. when i grew older i was used to sleep with the lights off when my mother would demand me to put it off..

I can't stand sleeping with a light on. We keep the light on over the stove so the kids don't bump into anything when they're headed to the bathroom in the middle of the night - and sometimes that little light even drives me nuts! LOL

I can sleep with a light on or in complete darkness, it makes no difference to me. I do prefer to fall asleep with the t.v. on. My boys sleep with the hallway light on...one of them HAS to have it on. On occasions when they sleep at their Grandparents and the light is off the house seems so different, but I still go to sleep fine.

I too need a bed sheet to sleep even if it is very hot out, like in the summer months. I prefer to sleep in darkness. Even the light emitting from my digital clock radio can disturb me enough when I am trying to sleep that I will turn it around so the light isn't facing in my direction. When I am not feeling well, say very sick that I am in bed, I want a small light on, say in another room so that I can see some light. I am not sure why this is but is the only time that I want some light while I am sleeping. Other than that, I can not sleep with lights on, at all.

I just cannot also sleep in complete and pitch darkness. I always keep my night blub 'on' which gives us dim light. Sometimes it so happens that you suddenly get up at night and need to get some water or medicines etc., or you just wake up from a horrible dream, if their is complete darkness, you feel more nervous, but if there is light, you can see the main switches and make them 'on'. Dim light also helps us creating a soothing atmosphere in our bedroom.

You do the right thing by switching on your bathroom lights, you appear to me a very 'wise' and practical person.

Yeah same here. Though my mom prefer to sleep in dark still i open the bathroom light so whenever she wakes up at night she could be careful enough not to fall and hurt herself

hehehe in these times light always sips in our rooms so nobody really sleeps in total darknss unless there is a blackout, but i only sleep with lights on when i do not have the choice to turn it off, like when on a bus, or when i am very tired from work i just drop and sleep but like you it is very comforting to have a sheet when you sleep :)

When I was a kid and displayed fear of the dark, my Dad came in and in the half-light from the landing light, asked me what I was afraid of. I was afraid that somebody was under my bed or in my wardrobe and wanted the light on. He asked me if I trusted him and I said yes. He then told me to get out of bed, look under it, and open the wardrobe and look in there. I was till a bit scared, but did it anyway and saw that there was nothing there. I never asked for the light on again and if there is too much light in my room, I find it disturbs me now.. :-) Derek

Hi Dear.. Well,I prefer both..like a dim light and little bit darkness. If it is fully dark, then it will not make any difference when our eyes are closed and when its dark...lol I observed that very small light in the dark can pass through and will look as if there is some big light...Sleeping in dark will be scary for us and for others too...Because, if they see us in the dark, they may think that some ghost is roaming out there.. Happy mylotting!!! Keep smiling!!!

I sleep without light cos in darkeness as it promotes the formation of melatonin ....a chemical which is produced when we sleep in dark.It acts as an antioxident and its absence can even produce many diseases including cancer. This chemical also induces sleep. It is not produced when we sleep with lights on.

I like to sleep with my tv on, and whatever I'm watching on mute. I can't stand the complete darkness. My brother and sister scared me too much as a kid, that now whenever it's completely dark, I get an uneasy feeling

I always sleep with my tv on. Always have. If anyone goes to turn it off, I'm wide awake the second it goes off. Don't know how I know it gets turned off, just do I guess. I totally get the sheet too. I have to have a sheet on. I can't sleep if I don't!

I love to sleep in the dark - light drives me wacko. My boyfriend tends to leave lights on at night or even sleep with the tv on. He's gotten out of the habbit when i stay there as i always ask to sleep with the tv off - the changing lights and colours give me a headache if i try to sleep with it on.

We generally don't have lights on in the house when we sleep, though regardless of the temp, we will use covers as well.

I myself like being under the covers as I sleep more rested then. I have also found that my best sleeping session is when the room is totally dark. Although if I am tired enough I would fall asleep in any circumstance. Dim light can also be very relaxing as some people find that as being a security blanket so to speak. Crocket.
