Write about the first time you actually thought there could be monsters. How frightened you were, and why. This is from the younger years, when you KNEW there were monsters. What were they, why did you believe they were real? I saw this awful movie about a giant tarantula. I'm scared of spiders anyway, and a giant one was too awful to consider. I was terrified. Probably 8 years old. I used to lay in bed, awake and staring at the ceiling, waiting for a giant spider to put it's foot through the roof. Then one day in the living room, I looked up. And saw a plastered over part of the ceiling. Just the size of a giant spider leg! My family could not convince me that there hadn't been a spider, sometime else, that had walked over and put it's leg through that ceiling. I was convinced! I knew it!! How about you? When was your first time?

I KNEW there were monsters at the young age of 5..why did I believe it was real? because it lived in my house....i saw it and had to interact with it every single day...how did I know monsters existed? Simple the monster in our house was my father..

I can relate to that answer. My question was about fake monsters. What you're talking about are the real ones. I spent a lot of my childhood avoiding home because of my mother's 'boyfriends.' My uncle was to be avoided at all costs too. There are much worse monsters than the ones in books. It's hard to have to grow up fast, just to survive. I'm very sorry for what you had to endure.

You mean to say that there are actually no monsters !! thanks God! I'm not joking I thought that there are things out there not may be like giant tarantulas but like evil spirits and demons and ghosts and I'm still afraid to sleep alone at night (though I have no other choice!) but when I was a child I was even more scared and there were even times when I couldn't go to the washroom alone!

I don't believe in those things, but I also make sure to take no chances either!! I don't use a ouija board or do anything that might attract them! Cats and dogs are supposed to be able to see those things, so if you have one or the other and they're not reacting, there's not one there. Trust their senses.
