MyLot oddities...

So, I recently hit the 200 mark meaning that I can now post emoticons/smilies. I noticed an odd occurrence, though... The first post that I made after clearing 200 posts, I tried to use an emoticon in the post. I tried two ways...both typing out the code and just clicking on the emoticon of choice to the left. Well, when I clicked, the code was input to the text window, so I thought it worked. However, when I tried to click the button to post my response, a line in red print appeared under the text window saying that I needed to have a rating of at least 200 in order to post emoticons. Well, I figured that it was just a matter of myLot updating my status - such as when posting the previous days earnings - and all would be well. I could wait another day, no problem. Oddly, not being a person that gives up easily, I replied to another discussion and had no trouble using the emoticon! Cool! ...but that is not the end of the story. Now, knowing that emoticons were enabled and having successfully used one, I went to another discussion that I had started to add a comment to one of my respondents. Guess what... I got the same message about needing to be above 200 to use emoticons!!! I noticed that any discussions that I had STARTED PRIOR TO REACHING 200 would not allow me to use emoticons in my comments. In any other discussion that I started after 200 or in any discussion started by another person, I had no problem using the emoticons. Just an interesting glitch, but fully understandable. Has anyone else noticed similar oddities? Things that are really not a big problem, but kinda make you say, "Huh?"

That's odd. I don't remember if it happened with me . Actually i don't like smilies much so never knew that i need to cross 200 to obtain code for them.My goal was always to cross 500 which thankfully i did now.

I am certainly anticipating the 500 mark more than I was the 200 mark. I don't really care too much for the various emoticons, but sometimes I do like to include a smile or two to indicate the intent behind one of my comments. Sometimes, I think that I can come across as being confrontational when I really meant to be funny or sarcastic. As such, I would use the basic smile (colon and close parenthesis), the raspberry (colon and capital p), or even the wink (semicolon and close parenthesis). Using these, though, tended to look odd due to the formatting of the posts. As such, I do tend to use the emoticons for emphasis. I didn't think I would care to cut and paste so much until I found out that I couldn't until reaching 500, though! Soon enough....soon enough. Have a great day!

You can use your emoticons after your account is updates, so after you get 200posts then you can use it for next 24 hours. This is first time i got 200, and i tried to use an emoticon in the post but it not work, so i waiting until tomorrow. And show message "if you want to use mylot emoticons your ranked must 200", i hope you can use it for tomorrow. Happy mylotting and have a nice day

Thanks for the reply. I didn't have to wait 24 hours to use them, and as is evident in the original post, I am able to use them now. The odd thing was that they worked on some of my posts but not on others. As I mentioned, it did not work when I tried to continue discussions that I had started prior to getting to 200 even though I was over 200 at the time that I was trying to add a new post. Any new discussions, or those started by others, did not prevent my usage of emoticons. Ah well, it's all good!

Thor, you always make me say "Huh?" Just kidding. It's all about learning these little odd things. But I see you worked it out, as usual.
