Intentional Acts of Kindness!!!!!!

United States

At the beginning of this year I challenged our congregation to do not just occasional and random acts of kindness, but to "give cups of cold water" intentionally because they are disciples of Christ. I asked them to commit to doing at least one such act every week. I am trying to do at least one per day. I have come up with some ideas of things to do, such as I plan to hand write a note of encouragement or appreciation to each member, 400, within the calendar year. But I do not want to run out of ideas, so I am soliciting suggestions from the mylot readers. Please give me at least one idea that I might try. Thank you!

This is awesome!!! I have always disliked the silly phrase "random acts of kindness" as if we should be kind to others on a whim!! We need to be intentional about kindnesses. God looks at the heart. Randomness is hardly following his will but rather throwing caution to the wind. We are to be listening to Him for guidance as to how we can be of service to others. Some kindnesses will go unnoticed in this life. The biggest one being Prayer. Intentionally, every week I meet with a small group of ladies that prays for the sick in our church. Some other ideas would be : Leave close parking spots for someone else. (You get exercise this way too!) Tip the COOK, not just the waitress. When you tell someone you will pray for them, STOP, DROP EVERYTHING and PRAY RIGHT NOW WITH THEM. Take you child out to lunch in the middle of the school day! Send a note of thanks to a spiritual mentor. Send a note of thanks to your parents. Call your mom and dad every week. Mow your neighbor's lawn when you mow your own. Ask your waitress if she would like prayer before you pray over your meal.(I have never done this but I know someone who does! They have had very positive reactions from waitresses, many of whom have really shared some big burdens!) I'm going to stop now to see some other ideas. Thanks for this discussion!

Wow, rocketj, your are a wealth of ideas! I love the one about the prayer for the waitress. I can almost see the reactions now. I think I will take my wife to lunch, just so we can give this a try.
