What breed of dog is he? Is he a big dog? Is there ample room? Believe it or not, dogs can be claustrophobic. Or perhaps based on the breed of dog, he may have a great guarding extinct. By being outside the dog house, he can better observe the home, as well as sleep lightly in order to perhaps wake up more quickly. Or maybe, just maybe, he just wants in the house. lol

It's a very large dog house He will lay in it and sleep if my 11 yr old son will go in it with him. I just worry sometimes because it get pretty cold outside during this time of year and he is an outside dog/ As a matter of fact he doesn't even like coming into our house he likes being outside. We took everything he enjoys sleeping on and put it in there we can tell him to go in and lay down and he will until you are out of sight then right back him and all his bedding goes.

I have a dog that does not like to be in his house either. It does not matter what we do. He prefers to sleep on his dog house than in it. He is such a weird dog. He will upon occasion go into it when it rains but that is about it. I hope that you can find the answer as to how to get your dog in the house.

good luck, i can;t get mine in a cage or any covered shelter he just prefers to sit outside,i put towels or blanket for him on the lanai so he doesn;t sit on the cold tile or concrete it is not good for their joints. but he does go in every once in awhile on his own. also it may be he's protecting the home and want's to see everything that's going on, isn't he a good dog. maybe put his food next to the shelter, well you know they don't crap where they eat, maybe he'll eat and go inside to lounge around after he has his full. all my friend has to do is point and his dog goes right in the cage, i just don't like keeping a dog cooped up. have a good one!!!
