South Africa is wonderful

I have just come home from my trip to South Africa. I traveled to Cape Town and the Garden Route with my toddler son. I met some very friendly people and didn't find any danger at all luckily. We explored the beaches, saw the penguins, viewed the seals from a boat and went on a safari for a few hours. We went to look around a poor township and that was interesting. On the streets I saw people in yellow vests looking after public safety. We took the train down to Simon's Town and found it very scenic along the coast.
Would you like to visit South Africa?
Safaris are possible so would you go on one?

I went to South Africa about 1 1/2 years ago for a business trip. Although I didn't get to go on a safari (I was there mainly for work), I was lucky enough to visit one of the game reserves. We went horseback-riding on this vast reserve, with all the animals just roaming around the entire place. It was very breathtaking!
I'd love to go back there. The people are nice and it's one place that you will definitely not forget!

I would love to see South Africa. When I was in Europe this past summer, I traveled around Spain with a young South African guy who was also traveling solo. He was from Johannesburg, but was living in Pretoria, and worked for the South African weather service as a meteorologist, which takes him off the coast into the sub-Antarctic for a year at a time. He's back in the Antarctic now, but he sends me emails often telling me that when he gets back, he will certainly take time off to show me around should I choose to come. I think I might one day.

I have heard that South Africa is a very beautiful country however, I have no
super big desire to go there. If i had unlimited resources I might consider it but my main goals are to go to China, Italy, Russia, Japan and perhaps Austraila and Germany. One time I was in Europe taking the train from England to France and met someone from South Africa on the train.

Hi Snowy. Yes, South Africa is a very beautiful country and I took a 12 hour flight to get there. I have three places at the top of my travel wish list now. Those are Cartagena de Indies in Colombia, Vancouver in Canada and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I hope that you will go to all the places on your goal list for traveling. Good luck.

Hi Maxine, As you know I am not as adventurous as you so my safari trip would probably be visiting the local zoo. It does sound like you and your son had a wonderful time though. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie. Yes, we had such an amazing time and the weather was perfect. Some winter sunshine was very welcome. I love going on safaris to spot as many animals as possible. So far in my life I have been penguins in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Zoos have so many animals so it must be like seeing the whole world. Maxine

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip to South Africa. I'm certainly interested in going someday. I don't know if I'll get the chance, but hopefully. I've always been interested in traveling and seeing new places.

I would love to go to South Africa, but I don't think I would want to go on a safari. I'm glad you were able to keep yourself safe, and that you enjoyed it. Did you take a lot of pictures? Maybe some you can post on mylot? It must have been an amazing trip.

Hi maximax8! Wow, that is such a wonderful experience for you and your son! I have heard so much about South Africa and I really wish that someday, my husband and I can travel in that beautiful place. I do would love to go to Cape Town and all it scenic spots. I would really love to go on a safari!

I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday - and welcome back! No, I no longer have any wish to travel outside my own country (Australia) ... unless I could visit a lovely little fishing village in Cornwall called Polperro. Apart from that, I'll be staying put. It just seems like too much effort these days to travel very far ... I'm happier sitting around the pool at home reading a book!
