What do you think will happen on December 21, 2012?

The Mayan and Hopi Indians predicted that the end of the world, as we know it, will come to an end on December 21, 2012. Lots of people have lots of theories about what this means, if anything. I found out something pretty interesting in my searches for information: NASA has officially indicated that solar flare activity will be at peak during the year 2012. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,478024,00.html What do you think? Any theories? Any interpretations on the prediction?

In 2012 we are having our olympics so the world will have to wait to come to an end ,we are having them in London England and we are looking forward to it.People have been saying the worlds coming to an end for ages.why do they do that? Why don't they just get on and enjoy life and stop worrying about such stuff.I cannot understand what they get out of such a prediction myself.Even if it does what can we do about it anyway,it is better off not knowing.

For the sake of the Mayans and their history, the world had better end. haha. If the world still is existing December 22nd, 2012...I suppose it will all be history (and hilarity!). The fact is, no one really understands what is going to take place. It is somewhat alarming because so many people have claimed that date as the "end of the world" (Nostrodamus, for example, is said to have pointed to that date). However, its hard to really say. None of these groups or people (or modern scientists) have really defined what the "end of the world" will be like. Some scientists say that the last time this phenomenon occurred it wiped out the dinosaurs. Note: Earth still exists. If this is the case, humanity may be damaged but we have the intellect to continue on. If the only thing damaged is electronics, then so be it; we don't need them. There is reason to be somewhat concerned, but not enough to avoid the life we have right now.

I think nobody can tell if it's the end of the world... if there might be a possibility, maybe we all must be prepared to make each day count. Live each day as if it were our last.

Not only the solar flares, but think about all the other stuff that happens that year. Scientists and the CDC have said there is a very high possibility of biological and/or nuclear war by the year 2013, it will be an election year and you know how crazy it gets during election... I don't know what will happen, but I'm prepared to go whenever...if it's tomorrow or 2012.

Hi breepeace, The Mayans didn't say that the world would end on that day, but it is the day their long calender ends. This earth should be around for a long time yet but mankind could wipe out civilization as we know it. If anything does happen, you can be sure that it will be a natural event or the result of how we have mismanaged the earth and it's resources. I have a feeling that many people will panic as the year and the day draws nearer but the end of this world for all of us will be when we die and none of us can tell when that will be. The important thing for us is to live one day at a time and not worry about what someone has predicted. Blessings.

thanks for sharing but i wasn't aware of that until i read on your post. well i guest this is just a prediction. I am not afraid if it is the end of the world for I am I have done a good life while here on earth. I have enjoyed my life to the fullest and I know my God will protect me and all of us as this day would come. I am just happy for I will be with my maker by then. why fear all of us will eventually die.

The world won't end. The sun will rise and set just like it had on December 20 and will on December 22. Maybe the Mayans knew about solar flares and how often they happen. Maybe they calculated when the next big ones will be. It's possible as they were a very mathematical people. There abilities in math, geometry and astronomy were far superior to any other group of people in their time. It is still better than many scientists and math whizzes of today. Possibly they made this prediction because their world was primarily only as far as anyone had ever traveled. It wasn't like today were we can drive to the airport and be halfway around the globe in a day.

It can prove anything, it is only prediction. I don't believe it. Nobody can tell, only God knows. I believe in God not Nasa.

I dont the world could end. Or maybe something like that movie the day after tomorrow, it was pretty good, although it was about global warming. But actually I think it will be a normal day and some dumb new movie will come out on that day. Maybe the next Xbox is gonna come out on that day too lol. All these things are theories about the world ending but you know anything can happen. Nothing supernatural has happened so far ? has it?

I would like to think that we will all be around for a long time to come. Personally I don't put too much stock into predictions as they are rarely acurate. For the longest time people thought that the year 2000 was going to be the end of the world and instead nothing happened. I think that instead of wondering when the world is going to end, people should concentrate on making their lives happy and living to the fullest.

I don't know. I don't think it's going to be as bad as they say. i don't think the world is going to come to an end. There was a tv show recently i was watching and it said we have about another 5 billion years left on this earth.

There have been so many predictions like this throughout time, nostradamus being one of the key players in the panic press. I don't believe a word of it. As a child I worried so much about these predictions but none of them have ever come true obviously and I am still here to et up, go to work and pay my bills! Thanks for sharing the interesting story though.

pluto - Is Pluto a planet? Does it qualify? For an object to be a planet, it needs to meet these three requirements defined by the IAU:

 * It needs to be in orbit around the Sun - Yes, so maybe Pluto is a planet.
 * It needs to have enough gravity to pull itself into a spherical shape - Pluto…check
 * It needs to have "cleared the neighborhood" of its orbit - Uh oh. Here's the rule breaker. According to this, Pluto is not a planet.
It is a prophecy statement made by one group and they had collected millions of money by selling reading materials on that title, on internet and published thru printed media. The world will not end till human can find and obviously look at planet 13th. Pluto was first discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona. The Solar System now had 9 planets. There are 10th., 11th. and 12th. object found by Astronomers but still cannot be called as planet. The latest 12th. they called it as Nibiru. For an object to be a planet, it needs to meet these three requirements defined by the IAU(International Astronomical Union): 1. It needs to be in orbit around the Sun. 2. It needs to have enough gravity to pull itself into a spherical shape. 3. It needs to have "cleared the neighborhood" of its orbit.

I don't believe on theories. For it is said in the Catholic Bible that only God knows the end of the world. All we need to do is be ready. So those who are saying they have theories about it, I respect them. But still, I believe that only God can say it.
