Decision about coupons.

Today i made a decision about coupons - rule actually. I use coupons alot and i love the savings i get however...i never seem to have the money i save. My new rule is for each coupon i use i need to keep track of the price i save...then put that amount into a piggy bank so the savings actually add up in the end. How do you save money? Any other suggestions for coupons? Where do you get yours?

This sounds like a good plan. I haven't really been worried about it, as we don't get very many coupons that apply to us - I'm not a very good coupon hunter, I think. But I guess it would be nice to keep track of how much we save by using coupons.

I think the ones i use add up to about 10 dollars a month give or take a few cents.

I used to try to do that, but found that I couldn't do it. I don't know why but it just seemed to be to big of a job for me. I have found that if I save my change I do better. I try to also put one dollar bill back into a bag every two or three days and I find that I can save some money that way. I have been able to come up with enough to take a short day trip and that is something that we really enjoy doing. I wish you the best in your plan and Happy Savings!!

Hey saundyl! That is a very good idea! But, I really can't even afford to do that! I am really bad about using my coupons! I forget to take them to the store with me half the time! By the time I am ready to use them they have already expired! I really need to be alot more mindful of them and learn to have them with me and be more prepared! I do like your idea alot though!

I used to forget them but now when i get them i put them in my purse right away with my grocery list. I dont buy something just because theres a coupon however i have to need it or use it.

That is a wonderful way to save money. I get coupons by downloading, and I buy discount card at McDolna's, for instance. They do help to save money. The issue is not the coupons, but the temptation to spend more because of the coupons. So better use the coupons only when you need the meal, clothing, shoes, etc. If it is approaching the expiration date, make a wise decision between use and give.

I try not to just buy because theres a coupon I have need or use the items. If its not something i use i tend to give the coupons away to my mom or friends.
