How do you celebrate your birthday?

Philippines
January 31, 2009 3:40am CST
My child's birthday is on thursday. We will be preparing foods for his classmate. And we will distribute it at recess time. Thinking about birthdays of kids is easy. But when your getting older say 20s and up, how do you celebrate? Do you still prepare foods at home and invite your friends? Do you go out in a restaurant and just treat your friends? Or your birthday just passed by just like an ordinary day? Just share your thoughts, mylotters thanks.

i have four children and they are all teens already. they share the chores at home so they would rather treat their friends out than bringing them in the house lol. gotthe point? but during the times when they were little my sisters just take them out for pasyal. my husband is not a very responsible person (luckily we left him 7 years ago) so we are not able to celebrate any of our childs birthday at school. i would really like to do that but can no longer do that for they are all teens already.

actually now I just invite my friends or just go and hang out. No more "party" and that stuff. But for your child, i think small party with his friends with some simple home made food will be very good

Hi there red_amethyst. My birthday is in a couple of weeks. I will be turning 41. I usually spend time with my husband and son on my birthday. We might go out to eat somewhere or do something special. My birthday lands on a Tuesday so we will probably do something on a weekend day.

Hello red_amethyst, Advance Happy Birthday to your kid :) My son just had his birthday and we also had a birthday lunch in their class then at night, we went out and dine in a restaurant as a family with my husband's brother and sister... Usually, during our birthdays, its either we go out and dine in a restaurant or sometimes I just prepare meals and we all eat in our home... :)

Hello Red Amethyist. When i was younger i used to take boxes of candies to share with my class mates as my birthday was on 18th of september. Nowadays as a student i don't do that anymore, as my college year starts on 1 of october. Regarding the celebrations it really depends on what money i or my parents have at the moment. Sometimes i will chose a pizza or a cake and some juice in town, other times i will choose a celebration at home, with some hot food (stake, french fries) or some sandwiches and juice and of course a cake.

I go to a temple on my birthday, go to orphanage or oldage home and visit poor people, i do try to offer some food and sweets on that day to them, i do like offering food and clothes to the needful and poor. I like to do those things which i really can afford and which brings me lots of happiness and peace. Going out to restaurants , going to movies usually happens, so i dont want to do the same on my birthday too.

Hi Red, actually i dont really celebrate my birthday. For me, its just like other day, normal day. For past two years, i went to nice places to celebrae my birthday, silent place, like mountain or port (enjoying sunset), and then i try to remember the past ..what i have done for last 1 year, my achievement in career and study, looking inside (my personality, behave, remembering my past time mistake, and make a wish that i won't do the same mistake though its hard. Anyway, having a good health and always be thankfull to God for every moments in life are the best gift for my birthday.

It really depends on the individual how to celebrate their birthdays after they hit their 20s. I just take it as another day. Sometimes I will celebrate it with my friends but for sure I will spend it with my family. No one better to spend it with in my opinion. Just keep your son closer to you as I know you will and he will always would want to spend his birthdays with you guaranteed. Say happy birthday to him from me.

Hello! They were times that I just treat my friends in a fast food or restaurant. But most of the time, my mom really prepare for something for lunch or dinner for friends and relatives. Now, that my birthday will be this month I really don't know what to expect. I may just go out for dinner with my husband and with my in laws. They doesn't spend that much time to prepare for birthday party...hehe. But I am really expecting for a gifts!!!! I love gifts
