01/31/2009 12:51 AM, AP The Associated Press The Boss is owning up to a mistake. In an interview with The New York Times, Bruce Springsteen says he shouldn't have made a deal with Wal-Mart. This month, the store started exclusively selling a Springsteen greatest-hits CD. Some fans were critical because Springsteen has been a longtime supporter of worker's rights, and Wal-Mart has faced criticism for its labor practices. Springsteen's team didn't vet the issue as closely as it should have, and that he "dropped the ball on it," he told the Times for a story to be published in Sunday editions and previewed on its Web site. Springsteen went on to say: "It was a mistake. Our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one. Fans will call you on that stuff, as it should be Now my question is this "is the boss really sorry about his choice or is he more concerned about the sales of his cd.Now walmart labor practices are well known so how could he have dropped the ball if he was really passionate about this issue ?. Can we accept that he has always been an entertainer with a goos social conscience that just messed up this time or has the "boss" suddenly become commercial. What say you ? Disclaimer :I have been a fan of the boss and this wont change that form the days of the "streets of philadelphia" through "secret garden " and to "devils and dust ",so I am not bashing him ,just want your views on the issue.

Or he could have done it for the very effect it is getting! Eveyone can now afford his CD's, so he makes money, yet comes out with this statment that it just "got lost in the shuffle" and stays on everyones good side! Bet his concert ticket prices are on the rise!

I guess that he should be more concrened about where his Cd's are going but no one is perfect and not all walmarts are evil to their employees so I guess there is not a problem with him not knowing what is going on but yes I think he should have been more vigliant about this.

No matter how well educated you are, or how much you pay attention to some things, there's always gonna be something that slips by you. If you're lucky, it's something small and unimportant. If you're unlucky, then you get this. You can't check on every single thing, that's what you have teams for. I think it was a mistake, no more.
