Does this program really work I heard it was pretty good for a free one. I'm not into paying like 55 bucks or whatever for some crazy anti spywear stuff. Has anyone ever used this? And if so does it keep your computer safe against viruses. It better!!

Although the free version of AVG is pretty decent compared with other similar products of the antivirus market, its paid version is totally inferiour to the whole portofolio of paid antiviruses from the market. There are many websites analysing the features, ergonomy, resource consumption, ability to detect and and remove viruses, protection agains phising, tunneling or other various infections from www, in which AVG occupies only a medium-low position. My suggestions would be, in case you decide to buy an antivirus product to check also Norton, Bitdefender and Kaspersky (each coming with decent features and good rates when it comes to detect and remove a viral infection of any kind). If i'm not mistaken, some of them also have free versions (at least Bitdefender has) which you can try before you buy. However, if you want 100% protection, better go for a virtual machine that you'll use each time you start browsing, instead of having an antivirus in your memory. Even if the virtual machine gets infected, is no big deal, you just restart it and that's it. The system would be clean and protected.

I have AVG and I have to say I love it. It is free and it is great, gets the viruses, updates and everything. I couldn't be happier with any other antivirus. We used it in college and I fell in love with it then.

Remember that foooool virus last year? My AVG ate it for breakfast. I've used AVG for about eight years now and not had a single problem that it hasn't been able to beat. I recommend it to everyone...

I would go with AVG. I use it for years and it works really well with my computer. It does let me know if there is a nasty virus on the computer and I like that it scans my email while downloading into my incredimail.

Okay so I used to work for Geek Squad and I totally recommend actually going out and spending the money on the ant-virus software because It will save you a headache in the future. But as far as a free anti-virus goes Avg is probably the best. I don't know if you have ever heard of avast? but they were a good free ant-virus program a few years ago. They recently though started charging for their product but avg runs on the same platform. But if you do decide to buy instead of go the free route just check your local BestBuy and go to the Geek Squad Counter and they will give you our recommended software which is only I believe 19.99 or 29.99
