Is it worth it?

Starbucks serves some mean coffee. But it is a fact that they charge a pretty penny for it. Is it really worth it?

If you only do it every once in a while, it is definately worth it! Now i would say if you go everyday, not so much. lol

To me, it is worth it once in awhile. The way I see it, I am not just paying for the coffee, but also a nice place to sit and read the paper or work on my computer, listen to the music they play, and the nice atmosphere. Compare it to Dunkin Donuts, where I could also get a decent cup of coffee, but it is not nearly as nice a place to sit and hang out. (Although to be fair, some Dunkin Donuts have remodeled and the decor is much nicer than it used to be, although they have not installed any comfy chairs.) Also, despite popular belief, you can get inexpensive coffee at Starbucks. I pay just over $2 for a large (venti? I always forget) of either their house coffee or the "morning pick". I am sure I pay about the same at Dunkin Donuts. The main difference is that Starbucks has more options of fancier drinks that can have you paying 4 or 5$ for a "coffee". Since I'm not working now, I've cut back on Starbucks but not given it up altogether. I've found that by sticking to plain coffee, it really isn't too expensive and I can still hang out there for a couple of hours.

You know what's funny? I also forget about those outrageous sizes? I mean what's wrong with calling it large? You are right, Starbucks do have really cozy places to hang out while you sip your morning perk. I agree with you that at these times, we'll just have to cut back on it to just once in a while. Thanks for responding!

For me, there are some drinks that they serve like their Mochas, Carmel Machiatto, etc. that are worth it, even if they are a little more expensive as well. I know that my husband and I do not go out of our way to buy these, but from time to time have been known to splurge on one if we do not have a Gift Card as well.

Eh, I don't think it is worth it, especially in this economy. I mean you can treat yourself to something every once in a while, but it is not necessary to take advantage of it all of the time. I would love to go to the grocery store and buy a few pounds of crab, but I won't haha... I will on a special occasion, like when my boyfriend visits from overseas again next December . Things are best in moderation anyway, you can really appreciate them that way.

That's true. It has been quite difficult to splurge nowadays. And yup it does make the experience all the more special if you hold out for a while. All the best. Thanks!

In all reality, probably not worth it, but when you're meeting some friends to chat I just can't think of a better place to do it. I love sitting with a bunch of friends, having a special coffee, and relaxing for a bit.

Yup! And talking with pals while enjoying the aroma of freshly brewed coffee isn't bad either! Thanks!

I think it is worthwhile though a little expensive. Let's say it's around 25 to 30 RMB for a small cup of coffee, that's about 4 dollars. It not only serves coffee itself but provides graceful place for people to hang out, leisure chatting, meeting your date, or meeting business mate. Sitting a corner on the comfortable sofa is enjoyable.

I agree. They have such nice places for a nice talk with friends. Their desserts aren't bad either! Thanks for the response!

Not for me. Their coffee tastes terrible, I suppose that's why they offer all them flavors and creams and whatnot so you won't notice the awful taste of their coffee My wife loves the place, but I personally wouldn't give you a dime for a cup of their coffee.
