Hmmmmmmmmm... Just listening to Sam Cooke's songs takes me into another world. 
I do not want to be disturbed at times like that but just to allow his oh so melodic voice take on me on the various journys down emotion lane.
Some of his songs I really like (there's none I know that I do not like) are:
* I was born by the river... The last song he did before his death.
* Twisting the night away
* You send me
and
the
list
could go on but why dont I allow you to add your favourites.

I enjoy Sam Cooke's music very much! I like a lot of retro or "oldies" tunes :) It's great stuff! I think my mom had a lot to do with my love of this type of music because she played so much of it when I was growing up. She also used to get me to jitterbug with her LOL Mind you, I was never really taught to do it properly but I did my best to keep up with her... she was a great dancer!
As for Sam Cooke's songs, I love You Send Me and Twistin' the Night Away too. I also like Baby, Baby, Baby, Shake, Rattle and Roll, One More Time and, so appropriate for this time of year, Cupid
. he was such a great singer. I also love those songs you mentioned and yes indeed... Its Cupids time of the year.
