Wolverine and Sabertooth duel, who would win?

This is a bit hard since I'm a huge fanatic of X-men, including all characters. But for the sake of this discussion, I would have to go with Wolverine. Firstly, Wolverine's amazing healing power would be the weight that would definitely tip the scale. After all, how do you defeat someone who just won't die? Despite Sabertooth's immense strength, pitting him against the ability to heal, would be akin to watching him punch a bag of an unbreakable material, futile to say the least. Any hits that he does get on Wolverine would be easily healed, and without any tools of any sort that can deal fatal blows, Sabertooth would never stand a chance. Secondly, to add injury to insult, while the mental image of Sabertooth futilely hitting a punching bag is amusing, it would be inaccurate. Wolverine possesses not only his amazing healing powers, but also his adamantine claws. To factor this into the mental image, now put on a pair of indestructible claws onto the punching bag that scratch and injure Sabertooth every time he hits it. Sabertooth's immense strength and heightened senses may help him avoid some of the attacks, dodging the punching bag swinging at him, but with so much to concentrate on, he stands no chance of winning. Lastly, now give that punching bag strength and intelligence. Sabertooth's intelligence, like his chosen animal, is primitive to say the least. Charging blindly, with little or no strategy, the odds that Sabertooth have are low even without pitting him against Wolverine. While Wolverine does practice a similar style at times, letting emotions get the better of him, he often plans in advance, knowing when to push forward and when to back off, a result of his hard won experience. In short, the odds of Sabertooth defeating the dodging twisting punching bag with claws and indestructibility, are nil.

To me its a slightly more difficult choice due to two factors: 1) Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton, thus Sabertooth can be dismembered or decapitated by Wolverine but not vice versa. 2) Sabertooth may not have Wolverine's indestructible skeleton but he does have the psychological advantage of being able to incite Wolverine's blind berserker rage by bringing up the horrible things he's done to Silver Fox, one of Logan's past loves. In the end I'd have to give it up to Wolverine, 'cause time heals all wounds, even psychological ones.

I believe both sabretooth and wolverine have the healing factor. Read below on the abilities and strength of each of this xmen. Sabretooth is a mutant who possesses bestial superhuman physical abilities, most notably a rapid healing factor, razor-sharp fangs and claws, and superhuman senses. He is a vicious assassin responsible for numerous deaths both as a paid mercenary and for his personal pleasure. Wolverine is a mutant, possessing animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, retracting bone claws, and a healing factor that allows him to quickly recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin, enabling him to live beyond a normal human lifespan. This healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near indestructible metal alloy adamantium to his skeleton and claws. Since both of them have healing powers I don't think they'll get to do much damage on each other unless they cut off their opponents head.

Historically, Wolverine has fought not just to land more blows than his opponent but to also move his opponent where he can use the environment against him; backing Sabertooth up to a cliff, pushing him into an electrical device, or even out the door of an aircraft. Whereas Sabertooth just seems focused on ripping out Wolverine's heart and ripping his body apart. It cannot be argued that both of these characters has an intense will to win but by considering all of these factors, the only conclusion that one can come to is that Wolverine would emerge the victor when fighting against Sabertooth.

when I read the comics, sabertooth had that healing factor as well. I still think wolverine would win though due to pure willpower and touchness

i don't think there will be a clear winner in this fight.in wolverine origins , wolverine killed sabretooth bybeheading him.But he had to to use the Muramasa sword to do it and sabretooth actually wished that logan kill him as he wanted to escape from romulus. In a fight wolverine may hold back inorder to protect the bystanders and his team mates but sabertooth won't.i think this is an advantage sabretooth has over logan. Every body is pointing out the fact that wolverine have martial arts and black ops training but so do Creed.

The saber-toothed cat would win a fight over a wolverine according to how animals fight when they confront each other in the wild. Before I wrote this article, I went to three different web sights, Wikkipedia, The Illinois State museum web site and the UC Berkeley museum of Paleontology web site to gather data on these two animals before I formed my opinion. When we talk about a fight between animals, it is not the same as a bar room brawl. Predators of different species fight for two basic reasons, either territory, or one predator will try to take the kill of another. The rest of the time, they have sense enough to leave each other alone. Wolverines have been observed getting into fights with both black and brown bears. When confronted by these larger predators, the wolverine has been observed to usually back down. This is why a wolverine would also back down from a saber-toothed cat.

We know that both of these titans have above average strength and agility. No doubt this battle would see both of them attempting to capitolize on their various abilities. The both of them have heightened senses honed from a lifetime in the wilds of the badlands. The both of them will no doubt and without hesitation fall back on their animalistic sides to win this fight. It will come down to each individuals specific attributes and will to win as the deciding factors. I know what your thinking... what a geek, that i actually took the time to think this through and come to a conclusion on it borders on idiocy. Be that as it may... my money is on Wolverine, no doubt a lot of peoples money is.

Sabertooth possesses qualities very similar to those that make Wolverine the hardest of the hardcore, topped off by razor-sharp teeth. Physical attributes alone can't rule in Wolverine's favor. Those who would give Wolverine the win on account of his seemingly unbreakable spirit should also keep in mind that Sabertooth isn't hindered by the same moral apprehensions that could slow Wolverine down in the final duel. What if Sabertooth were to endanger the life of a human or defenseless mutant and ambush Wolverine when he came to their rescue? Matching healing factors and lucky breaks on both sides have kept us on the edge of our seats for years in this ongoing feud. When Wolverine's story draws to an end as all must, the victory should go to none other.

Although I hate to say it because I love the Wolverine character, the fact is that Sabertooth has all of the same abilities and qualities that Wolverine has. Although Wolverine's strengths come from his adamantium, Sabertooth also has very strong claws, and he has sharp teeth as well. He also posesses super human strength. Also just like Wolverine he has the ability to heal himself. Both characters also have heightened senses. One advantage that Wolverine does have is that he is not as large as Sabertooth, and is more spry and acrobatic. But what gives Sabertooth the slight advantage over Wolverine is that he is a sociopath. He does not struggle with morality like Wolverine does. Wolverine attempts to have self control and has a soft side. Sabertooth is not inhibited by his feelings and it a fight between the two Wolverine is likely to over think the situation too much which may give Sabertooth a slight advantage. I honestly do think the advantage is only slight and Sabertooth and Wolverine are nearly evenly matched. Under the right circumstances I do believe Wolverine could beat Sabertooth. But if you are just looking at pure stats, Sabertooth could defeat Wolverine. Sabertooth has size and a ruthless insane mind to his advantage, Wolverine has spryness to his, and perhaps could outsmart Sabertooth. But I have to give just a slight advantage to Sabertooth.

Wolverine and Sabertooth are matched up very closely (it should also be noted that we are talking about the comic book characters not the animals). They both have an age suppression factor that makes it impossible to say how old either of them is, although i have heard that Sabertooth is Wolverine's father, that would explain why they have so much in common. Anyway, Wolverine should be able to withstand anything that Sabertooth throws at him. And then throw some new moves back at Sabertooth. It would be a good fight, but in the end wolverine would win, you can't break him or hurt him, but he can definitely hurt you.

Wolverine would win in a fight against Sabertooth easily. An obvious reason for this is that he already has, but if you need further proof notice that while Sabertooth's raging animal fighting techniques would prove a daunting task to defeat for any normal person (I certainly wouldn't survive), Wolverine would be the victor for several reasons: 1. His powers are similar to Sabertooth's. Both have predator claws and teeth, as well as heightened animal senses. I would even say that they are evenly matvched, except for the fact that Wolverine's claws are made out of indestructible metal, and he also has considerable regeneration powers. 2. Wolverine was trained in combat during his ill-ended stint in the army. He is a warrior both born and trained, while Sabertooth does not even try to control his bestial behavior. We cannot blame Sabertooth for this, since he was cruelly treated by his parents(they locked him in the basement, chained to the wall and regarded with a mixture of disgust and fear). Wolverine is a cool-headed soldier, and is capable of advanced human strategy and cunning, where Sabertooth has shown unmistakable signs of being more beast than man. 3. Wolverine is the good guy. We must be careful not to underestimate the power of working for good rather than evil, of curtailing beastly desires that indeed we all possess but are magnified in these two warriors. Wolverine's humanity makes him more powerful rather than less. He is a hero, and this is a comic series, a combination that inspires confidence in the ultimate victory of righteousness.
