Do you count on the calculator?

Today I think I count on the calculator more than myself. I don't want to figure it out by myself. Perhaps I am lazy or I am afraid to make any mistakes. So most of the time I use the caculator

I still can't find where my lil' sis put my scientific calculator. Well, I guess that's the only physical calculator yet gone missing at the moment. Most of the times, I'll use the calculator on my PC as the buttons are even bigger than the scientific calculator? HahaIf the PC is off, I'll use the one on my phone. I don't like the laptop calculator as there's no separate number pad although there are USB plug-in calculators on sale.

Hi youless! I usually compute or count by myself when the numbers are small or it is within two digits but if it is more than that, I usually use the calculator for computing especially when I am in a hurry and I do share the same sentiment as you do that I am also afraid to make mistakes. Oh well, YES because I am lazy too! lol Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

I don't like calculators my friend mainly because it makes my brain lazy and I get frustrated if I press the wrong number by mistake and have to start again! I guess I am clumsy with the keys. But I always prefer my head to work things out or a piece of paper to jot the calculation down. I have got a calculator which I needed for GCSE Maths its a scientific one which works out tangents, cosigns for trigonometry but for everyday maths I use my head, I like number crunching anyhow so I enjoy it.

But the keys on the calculator are much smaller than on the computer keyboard, that's my excuse, good luck with catching me up, you heard about the hare and tortoise story, maybe I should slow down ;0)

At all times when i am in office, i do prefer doing calculations by calculators only. And when i am at home..i don't use them.. not because that i rely on my ability, but because i don't make any calculations..haha.. Take care friend.

I think you are busy with calculating how much you have earned offline. I know that

Learning to make bucks offline, by losing some of it.. At present it is in the negative trend.. but i am confident that i am just one step away to venture in the no friction zone where i can earn handsome sums. Take care friend.

I rely on calculator more and more now. I did not use the calculator in the past becasue I learned math pretty good in elementry school. I never use calculator in elementry school like most of the Chinese student at that time. however, as our society 'advancing' over time, more and more people use calculator and rely on it, i am one of it though i am not a worse case. I think laziness is the major reason why we use calculator.

Another Mylotter gives another good explanation, that is we rely on the calculator to avoid the mistakes.

i use a calculator too. It isn't being lazy, it is trying to make sure you get it right. I wasn't allowed a calculator until I knew my multiple tables. Before I had a calculator, I would figure out everything with paper and pencil. Now I use the calculator.

If I have a calculator with me, then I would definitely choose to use the calculator. Its accurate and faster than trying to compute manually. Calculators are invented to make it easier to compute, that is their primary function. But there are also times when I am not in a hurry and I want to exercise my mind a bit, I would try to compute mentally then check with a calculator if I computed correctly hehe

I definitely use calculator more since I am so terrible at math. I use calculator a lot more than calculating the figures myself.

I count on my fingers, and get a different result every time. Mostly, I leave the calculations to somebody else. Cheers and happy Mylotting

i count on my mind most of the time--if the numbers are big sometimes i do it with pen and paper and if the calculator is available i do it with calculator

Hi youless! I do use one. I will do it myself but always double check when I do. I wotk in inventory control and it saves a million minutes and maybe even a million mistakes. There are times when it's not available and I do it myself but I feel more secure with a calculator.

I think it's all about practice. When I was still studying, I really did not rely on my calculator when solving simple math calculations. Besides, it's more challenging to use your head in calculating something. It gives you some self-accomplishment when you get it correctly.

when i am dealing with big digits, i use the calculator. but i usually count with my hands, or in my mind, and when i am calculating expenses, i just count and solve them by writing them on the paper.

I always try to figure out math problems by myself... without the help of a calculator... but when i am in a hurry... i do use one... especially the one in my cellphone... I think using only our mind in computing math problems is a good way to excercise the brain... so that is a must for everyone...

Yes, I use a calculator regularly. I do estimates in my head of what I think the amount will be then I confirm it with a calculator. My husband trusts his own mind more than he does a calculator. H3ll, I trust his mind more than a calculator if I'm being honest. Brilliant man!

Unfortunately I do. It is kind of part of my job. I could do all the math manually but I'd be working overtime and i am pretty sure my boss would not appreciate that. It kills your math skills. I used to be very good in math. now after relying on the calculater for so many years my math skills have diminished so much. I also work on the cash register and I do count back change the old way so I don't kill all of my brain cells.

Hello youless, I too have become addicted to calculators. What is up with that? I do not feel that I have become lazy, I have however doubted the accuracy of my math though. That is the reason for my addiction, the pursuit of accurate totals. I just feel it is important to be exact, it could cost me more money down the line if I am not...Mamablaze!!

Me too........I use the calculator all the time. However I don't have a proper calculator...I use the computer calculator and my cell phone calculator. Am thinking of getting a moderate size proper calculator to make things easier for me when I am counting........was never good in maths in school and still not good at it.

I can never find my calculator. Most of the time my paws jam the buttons and it takes forever to punch in the numbers. So, nope, I rely on my gray matter....well, what is left of it!
