Are parents too permissive with their children?

I am not sure that they are too permissive as too busy, I know when I was a kid my mother was always home, was always there, today, kids are put in day care and mothers and fathers both have to work, I don't think they are always intune with their kids...they can't help it, most have to work but i still think more time is what the kids need through their lives with their parents.
