Top groundhog Punxsutawney Phil The world's most famous groundhog has seen his shadow which, legend has it, means this already long winter will last for six more weeks. since 1887 he hasn't seen it 15 times, for early spring. Do you believe the legend or just think it is silly? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090202/ap_on_re_us/groundhog_day

My husband say that their is always 6 weeks of winter left whether it sees it shadow or not. Which is true. But the weather might not be so bad. So far since the 7th we have had very warm mild weather and didn't even have to use heat. This weekend is suppsed to get a little cooler so we might have to crank on the old Kerosene heater.

Oh, it is just a silly legend but a fun one to pretend to believe in. A groundhog has no way of knowing what day on the calendar it is, after all. It makes for something to talk about with the kids. It also made for an interesting movie if you liked "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray.

I just heard that Phil saw his shadow, all I can say is.......shoot the groundhog! lol I normally love the snow and winter, however, for the first time in 4 years.....I'm beginning to hate it. I keep trying to plan a 45 min drive to the doctor's office, and I'm hoping for at least a couple of good days of weather in 4-5 weeks.........so I can move south.

I never really put much faith in the groundhog. If I thouht he could predict the next 6 weeks I would make sure littly Phily did not see his shadow.

I somewhat believe it. Eitherway, we have to deal with it til atleast late March.... I think it's the January blah's that get people all worked up about it! I know I"m tired of winter and all the snow and the cabin feaver no less.

I don't believe the legend, never have. I don't think it's silly, it's definitly cute, and I think it gives us a bit of hope because at this point we're starting to tire of winter and snow. Luckily in our parts, we can a very nice February thaw every year, and it goes up to about 60 for maybe a week. Then it snows again, but rarely gets as bad as it was before the thaw. I'm not sure if we're getting ours now or not, it was very warm yesterday, but I heard we're getting another storm tomorrow. Who knows.
