What is the most interesting cookie you have ever made?

I must admit that although I've tried my hand at a lot of different meals and such, I've never really made any interesting cookies or desserts. The cookie I've made most often is chocolate chip, and occasionally I'll change the variety of chip. For instance I may used peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips, but I still make the same type of cookie. I have made oatmeal cookies which did come out well. But yesterday I tried a new variation, using the same chocolate chip cookie recipe. Same as last time, I added a bit of cocoa powder to make a chocolate cookie. But instead of adding chocolate chips, I added tiny chunks of Andes candies! So I made a chocolaty minty cookie. My husband loves them, he almost refused to share! I must admit they are very good. Have you ever made a minty cookie? What's the most interesting cookie you've made?

Oh I love Andes candies. I think that chocolate and mint are just MEANT to go together. I used to have a recipe for a sugar cookie that called for pressing an Andes candy in the center right as they came out of the oven. They are yummy. I haven't made them in years. I never think to do stuff like add a little cocoa powder to make a recipe chocolaty. I'm a rather creative person, but that creativity just doesn't follow me into the kitchen.

My creativity stays in the kitchen. I'm not the least bit creative in any other aspect of my life. My grandmother was an artist, I've seen some of her drawings and she was very good. She was an art teacher at a school, and painted some murals for her town. But her creativity did not pass down to me or my mother. I have been known to draw a picture or two, but it took a lot of time and patience, and patience is one thing I just don't have! My son likes to draw though, so maybe grandmother's talent skipped 2 generations and was passed down to my kids.

I rarely make cookies, but my son occassionally goes through phases of wanting to make 'fork biscuits' (so called because you squash them down with a fork, which leaves a pattern on top when they're cooked). the recipe normally calls for cocoa powder, but sometimes I ring the changes by using instant coffee powder mixed with some orange zest.

Yes I've made peanut butter cookies using the fork pattern. It's funny, because the other week when I made chocolate cookies, I was debaing using my cappuccino powder instead of cocoa powder, and wondered how they'd turn out. Maybe I'll try that sometime.

I have made those cookies with the Andes candies before, but I did not add cocoa powder to them. My son loves them. He and my daughters father used to fight over who would get more of them. I made them about once a week for about a month before they got burned out on them. I don't know what the most interesting ones I have tried have been. I have made chocolate chip with various chips, oatmeal varied about 4 different ways, peanut butter cookies 4 ways, coconut macaroons and jam thumbprint cookies. The list is endless.

I've made 2 different kinds of oatmeal cookies. I'll soon be trying oatmeal scotchies. I have made peanut butter cookies, those are probably the easiest cookies ever. I have't made coconut macaroons or jam thumbprints though.

My daughter and I made peanut butter Christmas mice cookies for a cookie exchange this year. They had red licorice tails, peanut ears, mini m&m noses, and mini choc. chip eyes. They were so cute!

That sounds adorable. I've heard of chocolate mice, an online friend of mine has made them for holidays before and they sounded really good. I haven't tried anything that complex though.

hello katsmeow would you pass me one of those mint chocolate chip cookies please? yum i am going to have to get the ingredients for some chocolate chip cookies when i go to the store. several years ago for the holidays, i made some ginger cookies or something like that, before they went into the oven the recipe called for sprinkling sugar on the tops of them. they turned out good and different tasting as well. i use an ice cream scoop to dip the cookie batter out with so that all of the cookies turn out the same size when that they get done. take care and have a beautiful day today!

I use a scoop too. I have 2 different size ones. The big scoop only makes about 15 cookies per batch and the small you get about 3 dozen.

I usually stick to the basics when I make cookies. For christmas this year I did chocolate chip cookies and mint ones. I bought the Andes mints that are all chopped up for cookies. They turned out really well.

I have never tried minty but one year, at Christmastime, my mom and I made shortbread cookies in the shape of different Christmas symbols like a Christmas Tree, Star etc. Then we put green and red glace cherries on top. They were delicious and looked great.
