Women preachers

How do you feel about women preachers? There is that verse over in Ist Timothy, I believe, that says, "I suffer not a woman to preach nor to usurp authority over men. But in the Last Times, Joel has said, God has said that He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh...and your "sons and DAUGHTERS shall prophesy..." Do you sincerely believe Marilyn Hickey, Juanita Bynum, and Joyce Meyer are all headed to Hell? Well, think again. They are God called, God-anointed, God-appointed, women of God. What do you think?

I feel that anyone who wants to spread the word of God should be allowed to do so in one way or the other, however, I think there is actually a part in the Bible that says that women are not to be allowed to be preachers. I am not a Bible scholar, but it seems like I remember hearing something about it. Maybe there is someone here who knows what I am talking about and knows where to find it in the Bible if it is there, but I have no clue where to look for it. It would be interesting to know if women preachers is a Biblical thing or not. I have certainly heard some mixed opinions on this topic though...

I have no problems with women preaching, rather being a woman myself, I would feel more safe with them (considering what we hear about many male preachers). However, I have come across very few women preachers, mainly because society looks upon women as the mother and the nurturer of family while preaching is a full-time job which does not gel with a family life. Also, to become a good preacher a woman must start at an early age when it might not be safe always to be away from the family. Women have many problems which stand in their way of becoming good preachers and I must say that our patriarchal society and religions does little to help in the way.

The disciples were men. They were guided by Jesus, but still made many mistakes. Timothy was wrong to say that woman cannot preach. They also made the mistake of trying to keep children from hearing from Jesus. No those woman will not go to hell for teaching the word of God. To keep these woman from doing so would be wrong.

I think that anyone who TRULY feels God's calling should be welcome to lead a congregation. I mean, who better to spread the word than someone who feels it him/herself? The people who shouldn't preach are the ones who immediately ask for your money. They are the ones I watch out for. I think you know some of whom I speak of. I think that if God didn't want us to be equal, He wouldn't have given us the mentality to be so.
