Riding the elevator one day, it stopped in between floors, why, due to some technical difficulty I'm sure. It started up after 30 to 45 minutes later. Talk about freaky experience. We couldn't do anything. I wasn't alone, but it wasn't any fun waiting. What about you have you ever beens stuck in an elevator? It took a while to ride the elevator again, what's your experience with elevators?

I have never gotten stuck in an Elevator. But some of my friends did. That must be the worst experiences people ever have. I hope I will never encounter this for ever.

I have a fear of heights and elevators, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. But whenever I'm with the family I always get dragged into riding the elevator with them, so I kinda just stand and try to look as calm as possible. If the elevator were to ever get stuck I don't know what I'd do. All the stories of elevators falling just creep me out!

Oh no, I hope you are able to face that fear in the near future. To be tormented by the fear of what if' is worse than actually going through it in reality.

We were able to able to speak to the technicians through the phone that was in the elevator and they assured us that all was going to be fine, so we were fine. I'm so glad that your experience hasn't stopped you from using them today, as well as that nothing serious happened. It's good to know that the security or the technicians in my case were on their jobs.

I've been stuck on an elevator twice but not for more than a minute or two. One time I was with my partner and we were leaving to go to class. The elevator got stuck between two floors and started up again within a few seconds. The second time it happened, I was with my partner again but this time we were with a guy she works with. We were only on there again for a few seconds before it started to move again.

I've been stuck in an elevator a couple of times. The experience, whether good or bad, is wholly dependant on the actions and attitudes of the other people in the elevator. Believe me, it's no fun being stuck in an elevator with someone who has a fear of getting stuck in an elevator.

You got that right, but all was well, because we were able to able to speak to the technicians through the phone that was in the elevator and they assured us that all was going to be fine.

Most elevators have phones inside, so use the phone to dial out and stay away from the ones where you aren't able to use your cell phone in. Just in case the phone in the elevator is not properly working.

i havent but once my lil sis, who was then about 8 years old just stepped into an open elevator, and before i could follow her or do anything, the doors closed cos i guess someone wanted it up or down from the floor we were on. was real scary for her, but fortunately it was a 3 floor building, i saw it go to the 3rd floor from the 2nd, so i raced up the stairs and was there in time to get to her as soon as the doors opened, and she was scared, but consoled. THank goodness it wasnt one of those multi storeyed buildings!!

OMG ~ I thought when you said she step into a open elevator, that you meant she stepped into nothing, meaning that the elevator was on another floor and she had fell down the shaft. That wouldn't not have been cool at all. Thanks for sharing, I'm glad things worked out for you and her.

I'm glad I was not able to experienced being trapped in the elevator. I might be fainting for fear. I don't want to think about it. hahahah... So many weird thoughts are in my head. What if the technical problems will not be solved in 24 hours? do we have air in the elevator? hahaha lots of weird thoughts. I don't want to experience it.

No, I have never did get stuck in an elevator. Many of my friends have and have shared their experience with me. It was usually in the university business building but nothing serious happened. They were usually out of the situation in 20 minutes or less.

I used to be stucked in the elevator too. Once I went to a high building, took an elevator from 9th floor to 1 floor. But when we got into the elevator, the door suddenly closed unusual. Then it quickly down and after few seconds, it stoped. Then we waited and waited for the help outside. Yes, it is the technical problems. It was a new building, and the elevator haven't been checked well. That's an terrible experience before we were saved by others.Hope it will not happen again.

I personally can't stand elevators. I have a very big fear of closed in spaces and heights. I try to avoid elevators as much as I can, taking the stairs instead. I think that if I ever got stuck in one I would probably go crazy and start screaming, no word of a lie. I pitty the person I would be stuck with,LOL.

I bet if I were on an elevator with you, I'd probably be able to keep you calm. I know how to stay CALM in drastic situations such as that. You take the stairs eh? You must have some really large calfs. Do you lift weights?

OMG! I would freak out. I hate being in confined spaces for a long period of time. And my long period of time is 5 minutes. Glad you got out.

Yeah I did, it was horrible. I was volunteering at Barnes Jewish Hospital and I got stuck on the staff elevators. I had to wait half an hour before I could get out. I wasn't scared and I didn't panic but I was pretty pis*ed at that half an hour I lost.

I understand you frustration, especially since you are supposed to be helping someone else, but can't, because of something beyond your control.

Yup, it was a few years back. I went to office early, about an hour before office hours, as I had something urgent to attend to. And of all things to happen, the lift just stopped midway. The lights didn't go off fortunately; else I would have panicked, as I was all alone in the lift. I pressed the emergency button and it took about 10 minutes for someone to respond. I was angry, instead of scared - my schedule all shot - it took them another 30-40 minutes to get the door open.

Forgive my laughter, but I seem to find the humor in everything. You arrived an hour early, it took them on 10 minutes to respond and another 40 minutes tops to repair the thing? At least you had 10 more minutes of time to be early to work. Sure it messed up your original plan, but thank God you're still with us to tell and share one more minute or should I say day with us!

when I was younger and pregnant with my second child,we lived in high rise flats (apartments)and there were times when the lifts (elevators ) got stuck in between floors. This one particular time I was in there as I said pregnant with my second child and had my three year old son with me and the lift(elevator) got stuck, there was one man in there that started whinging, and complaining and saying we were going to run out of air etc.and I just wished he would shutup, but now I look back ,he was probably scared of small places or some similar problem and I really should have assured him, but at the time I didn't realize that and was just trying to reassure my own son, who wasn't really stressed anyway as it was an often occurence, where you just had to wait a while till they came and fixed it.

At least someone was able to be brave in the situation, and your son learned the valuable lessons: 1. It doesn't help to panick 2. Remain calm in crisis type situations is the best way to be able to properly think and to have a sound mind. I'm so glad you didn't say you went into labor, because OMG that guy probably would have had a stroke or something! ~ Kudos to the Brave Mom!

I am chlosterphobic so I do not do elevators unless it is just an absolute necessity. Me being stuck in one would be a nightmare for me and anyone else around! LOL

No. I don't even want to think about being stuck in an elevator. I'm afraid of heights and being confined in small places. I know a guy that won't even ride in an elevator because he was stuck in one before.

I believe in walking by faith and not by sight. I had an accident as a child where I was hit by a car. I didn't especially enjoy the paid or the body cast I had to where for 9 months. Neither did I enjoy the 9 additional months of physical therapy. But as soon as I was better, I was out riding a bike again. My mom of course didn't agree, but like I told her then, I can't live in fear of the unknown.
