Bully into speeding?

Some people are always mindful of the traffic laws.
They always keep to the speed limit. They always signal before changing lanes. And they always give way when they are supposed to. But despite that, they have still been bullied into speeding.
I am sure most of you drivers are conscientious drivers. But have you ever encountered a situation where you are forced to speed?
Take for example, on the expressway, where you have been tailgated, "high-beamed" and even honked at when you were traveling at the stipulated speed limit, but have to move into the right, higher speed lane, in order to give way to this jerk who is tail gating you. And when you move to the right lane, you have to increase your speed cos of the lane you are in.
Such bullying tactics do not just happen on the expressways. It happens on the smaller roads as well.
How do you deal with these people? DO you adamantly deny them their demands for you to give way?
Do you change to a higher speed lane in order to avoid a potential collision?

It's crazy.. If i'm being tail gate, i will never allow myself to give way to those drivers behind me.. Simply because i'm already at my speed limit on the road, and if they wanna go faster, than they shall overtake me, so why should i give way??
If they wanna bump me from the back, just let it be, for i'm not road hogging and the car that's being bumped in the back is never wrong.. haha =D SO it's either they overtake or they be ready to kiss my 'backside' anytime.. haha =D

Hmm... so you will rough it out with the tailgater to see who has to leave the high way first eh?
It ever happened to me when I was in a cab. The tailgater was some one looking for trouble.
He tailgated my cab and when my cab driver changed lane to let him pass, he changed to the same lane to continue to tailgate.
Sigh... so it became a case of who will chicken out and leave the highway first.
Darn young punk was driving a souped up lancer. I was so hoping that an accident will occur then, then I'd smirk at him when his lancer is all banged up!
Crazy fella out looking for trouble!

Nope, i'm not roughing it out.. I'm just pretending that i dunno if there's a car tailgating me.. lol =D I'm a patient person and i wont let those ple irritate me for nothing.. And if i wan, i will just sudden brake, and let him bang me.. lol =D
I dun mind my car being damage, as long as it makes him 'happy'.. lol =D Some young drivers are out to make trouble especially those with P plates because they just wana show off their new cars.. But they din think that, most accidents happen to them too, just because they are reckless by showing off..

I don't drive the freeways so much anymore. The roads I drive on are mainly 2 lane. Which can actually be even more dangerous because if someone is tailgating you there is nowhere for them to pass if there are cars in the other lane (which are heading in the opposite direction). And if the driver is going to try they are risking getting into one h*ll of an accident.
What I usually do if I'm ahead of such a driver and there is traffic going in the opposite direction is speed up (as much as I dare) so that they aren't wanting to pass me. Once it is safe for them to pass I slow down so that they can pass me safely. I may risk getting a ticket for doing this, but better a ticket than my life.

Well, what you described is a typical scenario where you are bullied into speeding.
Like I said, these tailgaters ought to be taken off the road. Once they are, they should be put through a lengthy course to learn about driving ethics all over again.
Then next time, they will think twice about wanting to tailgate and bully anyone else into speeding when it is not necessary to do so!

My father would never let me drive the van because he thinks i drive too slow... which is true... mainly because i learned how to drive in a place where the maximum speed limit is only 25 miles per hour... and in a place where the speed limit is often times not followed... i tend to look like a turtle amidst the fast running hares...

Ha ha ha ha ha... you remind me of a relative who refuses to let his daughters drive even though they have gotten their license a long time ago.
Always one excuse or another whenever they request to drive.
In the end, they gave up and bought their own car when they could. And they drove whenever they wanted to since then.
I guess it would be the same in your case.

well, i've not been bullied into speeding yet. if i'm not on the right lane of the expressway, i won't give way no matter how anyone tail-gate me. he/she can overtake me on the right if he/she is in such a rush. the right lane is for overtaking and the left lanes are for slower traffic. that's the way things work.
however, i've got to say that the hoggers gets me some times. i make it a point to drive on the left whenever i'm not overtaking. however, there are people who feel that it's their birthright to drive on the right lane but not overtaking any vehicles. this applies to both expressways and normal roads. don't they realise it's dangerous to overtake and be overtaken on the left?

Well, some drivers return their knowledge of the highway code the minute they get their license.
It is a sad truth. But cannot be denied that it is happening.
Sometime, being on the road, I am amazed at how some of these unruly drivers actually got their license in the first place.
It is frustrating!

when i am in what is better know as the fast lane and someone tailgates me then tough for them as in that lane i am already driving faster than the national limit ie 90mph and the limit is 70mph i touch my brakes and if they continue i slow down.i dont care how they react they can honk they can beep the horn they can even try to pass on the inside betwen lanes as has happend before but i hold them until itis safe for me to mive and not lose or increase my speed and if they care to argue the point when i pull into a service arae thats fine also but i will not be bullied anywhere and for certain not on the raods

I go slower! Or at least the speed limit. On rare occasions do I catch myself speeding, usually on the parkway. I don't like tail gaters and I always turn my mirror up so they can't see the look on my face! lol...
