Spill the beans! Are you a tightwad or a big spender? Do you use coupons? Is saving money important to you?

Depends. I spend money on something I need or really want as long as I can afford it. I prefer to get a bargain and I do use coupons, but not being able to lower the price isn't going to stop me from getting something.

I'm neither a tightwad or a big spender. I also don't use too many coupons (I do use cat food coupons... I can't pass up a dollar off a big bag of cat food for the herd of 10 cats that I take care of...6 outside and 4 inside cats. Fortunately they all are fixed so I don't have more to feed! ) I do look for the best possible buy on everything that I purchase. I drive people nuts with my comparison shopping. I just wish that my friends would jump on the saving money and stretching a dollar band wagon... Since I manage to save money they feel that they can borrow money from me.

I don't think that I am a tightwad, perse - we still buy things that are not really necessary. That being said, we usually wait until things are on sale and we do use coupons.

Everyone deserves a little treat sometimes don't they? There's a big difference between buying things that are unnecessary and just down right splurging outrageously. They say good things will come to those who wait. Thanks for your response!

I think I'm a bit of a wise shopper, a big spender and a tight wad all rolled into one. Sometimes I hate spending money on anything, sometimes I spend a lot more money than I intend to spend. It really just depends. I know I should be a bit more wise with my money but I think being a huge tightwad or a cheapskate is just as bad as being a big spender and doing nothing but spending all of the money that you make.

My goodness! You wouldn't be a scorpio would you? haha! I admit I have bad spending habits some of the time too. It always irks me to no end if I spend a lot. But, as you say...it depends. For instance, I don't mind spending a little on a nice meal with someone special. Thanks for your response!

I like the term wise shopper! I am also a clearance queen. I have already bought Christmas gifts for next year. I do clip coupons at times. If I find something that I always buy, then I will make sure to use a coupon.

I'm in utter shock at the Christmas comment. lol! Good for you! You must save a ton of money by shopping like that. So, now I'm wondering who's on your Christmas list? Do you ever add anybody to it or erase there name? haha... Thanks for your response!

Saving money is very important to me. I don't use many coupons because they're mostly for junk foods or makeup, lotions or personal care products that I either don't use or I use the generic brands or other brand. Occasionally I'll find a dog food coupon or one for bread but I live by myself so I don't use most of the stuff they have coupons for. I'm headed fast toward retirement age and have very little saved due to some unfortunate marital choices-I let others make decisions for me. Now I'm on my own and saving everything I can. Yes, I'm a cheapskate! I deposit all my internet earnings in my savings account, as I do my pocket change once a month. I don't go to movies, eat at restaurants, pay for any kind of entertainment other than my minimal package tv. I wouldn't pay for that, but there's no TV reception here without cable. I try to live as much below my means as possible and save the rest.

Wow ....that sounds a lot like my lifestyle actually. I haven't had tv service in years. Now, I live in a wooded area so there's no reception at all, but it's all went digital now anyway. You must have a lot of hobbies? I don't go out much either, but I gotta do something so I read or get online. I am curious to the ways you earn money online. If you don't mind me asking. There's a handful of resources I use. If you're interested, please visit my website. I'm still pretty new at this stuff but I have found just a few places to look to be legit and relatively easy. Good luck and thanks for the response!

Definately a tightwad, we use coupons, watch for sales, buy at yard sales, thrift shops and flea markets. I am so glad that we learned and practiced a frugal lifestyle from the time we were married. We are debt free! And this is super because my husband was injured and unable to work in 1989. I was in an auto accident in 1997. Because we lived frugally the reduced income [drastic reduced] has not impacted us as hard as it would people who lived to the limit of their incomes.

Hi Puddytat, Although I bargain hunt and save coupons I am not a cheapskate as that is often false economy, I would rather pay more for a good quality itm that will last rather than a cheap item that will last five minutes. The rest of my faily growing up were spendthrifts so I became the sensible one who budgets carefully. I have no credit and will save for a more expensive item so therefore I have no debt and live within my means. My biggest luxury is food as I just love it and althouh I do buy cheaper cuts of meat and just cook slower I will take myself off to a restaurant once a month for a treat. Huggles. Ellie :D

I agree...I will often pay a little more for a good quality item. There are many ways to save without still being able to enjoy life's little luxuries from time to time. I treat myself as often as possible with food.

Mmm...saving money is important to me, but I become a spender when it comes to family and myself as well (since I'm family... ;p)...haha..I guess the main reason I have an income is for my family and to pamper myself with certain things...especially those end year sales. Princess

I'm glad to hear that you are concerned with saving money as well. I do love the clearance racks! I only wish I could raid them more often! Thanks for the response!

I'll admit that I'm cheap in most cases. I try to spend the least amount of money possible. I always look for sales and deals. I use coupons every time I have them. If there are multiple brands of a certain product that I like, I will just about always go with the cheaper brand. Now, there are some exceptions. A lot of types of electronics, I'll make sure the quality is there first, and then out of the quality products, I'll go for the cheaper one. Saving money is important to me, especially now with the bad economy and my family's financial situation.

i am a single mom..my son is growing up fast.so I have to be wise in terms of where and how I spend my money. I never get anything i don't necessarily need, no matter if they are in sale...and if I need something, I don't stop looking unless I find a good deal... so for sure, i'm a wise shopper!

I've been called all of those things, but really I just like to control my money. I don't use many coupons because most of them are for things I don't use anyway. Convenience foods, cold cereal, junk food desserts, etc., are too expensive even with coupons. Saving money should be important to everyone.

I've have to become a cheapskate tightwad because of the rotten economy. It is getting tough. I'm cutting coupons, cutting back on everything, looking for deals, but mainly I'm not going to spend unless I really really need the thing.

I am a coupon clipper and money saver. I try to do everything frugally to save money. Right now, I am unemployed and what little income I do get I try to scrape by on the things I have to purchase. I trade coupons with a neighbor lady for something that I might not need. My sister and I both cook two meals a week that we can share--make enough of so she don't have to spend money to cook, and vice versa. I have saved bunches this way.

I would consider myself a cheapskate. I use coupons all the time when I go groceryshopping, I love shopping at thrift stores and garage sales and I save all of my change and even my one dollar bills and when the envelopes are full of ones, I put them in my savings account or save one for emergency purposes. I cringe when I someone asks me to borrow money-in fact I don't like to borrow people money. I guess I am also quite frugal.

Saving money is really important to me right now. My boyfriend and I are planning on getting a place of our own, so we are trying to save some money so we could afford it and I am trying to pay off my student loans. Mylot really helps with getting a few extra bucks a month to add to savings or student loans.

I wouldn't say that I am a tightwad but definitely frugal. I have to be....we are so screwed with our mortgage right now that we have to watch every single penny that we spend. But even before all this started I was never a very materialistic person anyway.
