Alcohol....Is it really bad?

I have a friend who likes to drink A LOT. She starts drinking in the morning, and doesn't stop all day long. She has kids, and honestly, she's a good mother. Her husband doesn't like the fact that she drinks so much, but he loves her anyways. My question is....If a person drinks a lot but still manages his/her responsibilities, is it really wrong? My friend doesn't drive when she drinks, so that's not a problem. I'm torn between leaving her alone about it and encouraging her to get help.
