What do you think I can use on him to stop the itch? He keeps scratching and his skin is very dry. Miniature Schnauzers are known to have bad skin. I was just wondering what you all have used to help your dogs itchy skin.

First check the Dog for skin disorders, this may mean a Vet check. If that is not his problem, his diet may be the cause. I give my do a teaspoon of soy oil every day until the problem gets better. She weights over forty pounds. You need to adjust this for the size of your Dog. One of our Dogs has a skin allergy to grass, he gets medicine from the Vet for this problem.

Just look for common Vegetable oil, in the cooking oil section. Read the ingredients so you're sure you have soy.

Well it could very well be allergies. So I am going to have to bring him in for a check up. Where would I find the soy oil and the grocery store?

My dog has dry itchy skin too. He used to scratch it so much. I brought him to the vet and they said he has bad allergies and also that they recommend for him to use oat meal shampoo and conditioner. Take some hydro cortozone spray to help with the itching and he is on banedril to help with itching. I would suggest that you take your puppy to the vet as they could assess your dog better. It could be allergies or something else.

Try to use butox solution and bath the animal atleast twice a week. don not use soaps containing carbolic acid in it. use shampoos having neem as a major ingredient and neem oil while grooming the dog.

I am going to have to try the oatmeal. I know that helps humans if they are itchy so I am going to look for a good oatmeal shampoo.

Buy a moisturizing honey and oatmeal soap in the pet isle. It is soothing for your pet and helps moisturize his dry skin, rleieves itching and is good for his coat.

HI. try aloe vera moisturzing gel, its smells nice and it leave there coat and skin nice and soft. I used this on my one do and cat. I seemed to help. Also if your dog will eat his food put some vegetable oil in his food, that helps. Hope this may helps your little guy.

Hi moneymommy,Sorry to hear about your dog,Mine has the exact same problem on his belly and when it's at it's worst he will literally scrat his fur very thin.I have been to the vet's on numerous occasions with him regarding the condition and it seems to be very hard to control let alone defeat. The first option i would recommend would be to buy a spray from your vet,Very effective but will be expensive. The second and much cheaper alternative i recommend to you is,Evening primrose oil,Buy some of the capsules and pinprick a hole in the capsule so that you can squeeze a little out onto your dog's food,Then mix in.Another method that helps to soothe my dog is to bath him more regularly and make sure the shampoo you use has aloe vera in it,This seems to help the condition.Good luck,I hope i have been of some help to you,
