do you have "nothing to wear" (despite a mountain of clothes in your closet)?

everytime i want to look extra special, i rummage my closet for clothes and i can conclude every single time that i have, um, nothing to wear. my boyfriend would look at me quizically because my closet is full of this season's latest trends, and last season's, and last last season's.
alright, maybe it's a girl thing. but do you also find yourself in this situation all the time?
what do you think does it mean? share your views, frugalistas and fashionistas of the world!

i go through my closets every year and get rid of the clothes i dont wear (stuff that i bought at a thrift store and i hate the way they look or because of weight loss or because it was a present and i hate the way it looks!)
i very seldom buy clothes that are now and trendy but i do buy a few basic pieces every so often like t shirts/jeans/khakis for work.

ah! good for you. :) is it safe to assume you don't find yourself in this plight? if you find that your closet is not your enemy, then cheers to you. :D
