Why We Hate Getting Old?

From medieval histories, people have been hunting the fountain of youth. Nowadays, in almost all types of medium, you can always see ads exalting youthful beauty - how to make yourself look younger and stay young as ever. And believe me, this "vanity" is a multi-billion industry. Which makes me think, why are we so obsessed on staying and looking young? Is there wrong with the lines and wrinkles of old age that we abhor them that much?

Well the cosmetic business has not had many funds from me and neither will it have in future! We all, if we are lucky, get the chance to grow old. One thing is growing old gracefully but it's another, which I find absurd, to try and hide the fact. If your outlook on life had been positive during yur life then I am a great believer in the fact that you will be rewarded not have too many scars showing for the years that have passed. Wrinkles also say a lot about what is actually inside a person too

I just saw some lady in the news. Everybody knows that she's old but she tried to eliminate all the wrinkles. My sister-in-law commented that she looks horrible. The lady has no wrinkles and she wears make-up but it's just that, something's not right. I'm not sure but it looks like her eyes and lips don't match with her "stretched" (sorry, I don't know the term) face.

Hello eich, People who have been ill or have suffered a great deal frequently have very fine wrinles all over the face. Unbalanced reducing diets also can cause lines and wrinkles, By no means are all lines caused by age. By no means are all lines undesirable. Some lines are desirable. How often you see a person who has been plain become increasingly attractive with age. And how often you see a mature person with a baby -smooth face. and sense that this is the person who is superficial and wanting feeling. One has not to worry about character lines and fine wrinkles, Just be sure that they are in the right places and they have an upward, not downward, slant. Never should an intelligent person permit himself to live habitually in a climate of discontent, because your habitual emotional climate is registered on your face. If your habit of mind is hopeful and outgoing, the muscless of your face pull upward; if your inner life habitually is sunny one, your face reflects its brightness.Happy mylotting

I wonder where you got those interesting facts friend. I do know that in drawings, upward curved mouths really means happy and downward curves show sadness. Well, I'll try to observe those facial lines closer.

Hi friend, I learned it from my cousin who happens to be a plastic surgeon. He says that lines and wrinkles are an index to personality. Stubborn, self-willed people who are set in their ways press their lips together tightly until they have deep wrinkles on the upper lip. Accordingly, the earliest wrinkles appear around the eyes. Not necessarily due to age, they may be mirth or laughing lines.Wrinkles between the eyes, especially deep, He says indicate excessive determination: They are often found in homemakers who are overtly efficient or in people who drive themselves in some other way. It is the daily overuse of the same facial muscles that forms lines and wrinkles in the skin. This also explain occupations and professions produce the same kinds of lines and wrinkles... Have you noticed that many speakers, lawyers and actors have deep lines in the middle of the cheek, going all the way down to the chin? a forceful business executive often has a few wrinkles directly under his Nose... Dressmakers, secretaries, and others whose jobs necessitate pushing the chin down often have an extra roll or double chin. So start now my friend to observe, I have already given you more hints on how to read lines from faces ha.

Hi eichs I don't hate to become old.It is something that nobody can stop. If I am looking old, there is nothing wrong in it to me.But I should feel young. That is I must have a body that is free from any disease. I should be eating all the foods.I should be doing all my jobs myself. I should not depend on somebody for my daily day to day life. I would prefer dying early in eighties rather than living longer for hundred years with lot of physical problems. Happy mylotting

With healthy living (physically, emotionally and socially), I am sure many of us can enjoy life even when we are old. I am with you about dying before becoming a burden to anybody.

I guess its not about the whole white hair issue. Its about not being able to do the things that you use to do. Cause as we get old, we are limited to what we can do...and sometimes even the things that we eat would be limited when we grow old..

But if it's all about limited activity, then things should have been focused on having extra energy. But what we see now are more on beauty products or medical processes to make one looks younger.

Well, I guess not everyone focuses on cosmetics and stuff. Others do pay attention on their health more than the chemicals that they put in their face.

Maybe you are right. Healthy living is getting more popular nowadays. It's just that products for "younger looking..." are still "in".

May be because we are afraid that our loved ones might find another person after we die. We are afraid to be forgotten by them. I am not sure really but that is what I feel.

Absolutely not! At 75 years I've began to brag about my age. When you are young, Young is Beautiful. As you age you get Older and Better. There is a certain vanity that comes with age, like a valued antique. My life has proceeded to get better with every passing year. I remember my teenage years, as the Hardest Years of my Life. Things slowly got better after that, but I was 50, before it was possible to sit down and enjoy life. This is the beauty of aging. You no longer have to be going 90, to feel the wind in your hair, and the stars in your eyes. You can be 90, and quite content to, "Be still and Know that I Am God!"

HI. I just think when we get older the wrinkes start, gray hair, we just do not have the enegry as we did when we were younger. I know I don't. But the way I see it, I would not get any surgery done to make me look younger. I choose to take whatever come with age.

That's what my former boss is always telling me, being old and feeling old is just a matter of the mind. But definitely, I look older than 10 years before. LOL!

We hate becoming old because we become independent again and we can not do those thigs that we used to do when we were young. We become envy of the youth. We will be less productive and sometimes bocome a burdain to our family with all the meds we have to take regularly.

You got a point there. I hope I will be able to save enough for those times that I can no longer be productive.
