I don't personally own a dishwasher and I think I am going to stick with just doing them myself. As anyone told themselves they would never purchase a dishwasher but then later decided to get one?

A dishwasher is another gadget I've done without. I willnot change my mind either especially as my sonis now grown up and married and there are less plates and pots to wash. I must have saved a lot of electricity by not having one. What about the time too? Surely it takes time to load and unload a dishwasher so what have I been missing?

Thank you very much for your honest response and I can appreciate the fact that the dishwasher is yet another appliance just eating up the power and you can sure do without a higher electric bill. I don't own one of course and I can sure see where there is time spent in loading and unloading the dishwasher which only brings to a constant question in my mind about the real convenience of them. I am sure that a lot of people have been using them for years and are just used to them but I am just used to washing the dishes by hand and simply getting it down and out of the way in preparation for my next chore.

I couldn't agree more! By hand you wash up and it's done no messing about waiting for the cycle to finish and so on.

I use a dishwasher. But it keeps breaking down and its only a little over a year old. When it is running it is great and sure helps with the work load.

I thank you for your response. That is a shame that your dishwasher keeps breaking down. I just don't have one and I am pretty content with that right now. I am not entertaining the idea of having one though. There is always a chance that if I were to move to another house and it had a dishwasher then I might use it but there is no substitution for the tried and true way I have been doing it for years. Strictly by hand with the dish soap and water! It must be a nice convenience for some people but if you are used to having one and then it breaks down that can be quite frustrating. But when it works and helps with the work load then that is an added bonus. Take care friend.

no I have never had a dishwasher, never thought it was necessary with only two people in the house, now if somebody gave me one I certainly would use it but I would not go out and buy one though.

I don't own a dishwasher, I never have and, even if I had the money, I'd choose other appliances first. If you do not generate a lot of dishes, then it's not really worth while. On the other hand, though, a dishwasher could be really helpful right after the Christmas dinner.

I dont own a dish washer and thats how I like it. I did live in an apartment that had one and I never used it. I would just rather wash them myself and be done with it.

As one of those people that scrub the dishes anyhow, and the fact that there are only two of us in the house, I don't have or want one. I admit that it is nice when I go to my sister in laws and we have a family gathering. We can get most of the dishes in the machine and I usually get the others by hand so it's all over and done with. However, I still scrub the stew out of them first. I've seen so much left on by simply machine washing that I can't help myself.
