What kinds of exercises do you do to lose weight?

I'm looking to drop a little weight, mostly around my middle and tone up a bit. Here's my issue, since my son was born via c-section, I can't do a lot of ab intensive exercise without quickly reaching the point of excruciating pain. The Dr said it has to do with scar tissue on the inside of the incision (I have virtually no external scar, which is nice). Anyhoo... sit ups and crunches are out for the most part, I can do some but not a lot. I've tried some basic pilates exercises and the pain takes longer to get there, so I can get more done before I have to stop for the day, which is nice. I know I should also add some cardio to the mix as well, of course. So... What kinds of exercises would you recommend?

i think fast walking is the best way for you to lose weight. it is low intensity and works really good. obviously you have a new born so you may not be able to find time but a 40 minute walk each day and you would see big changes. maybe even take the baby with you add some weight to the pram and that would work even better. also to build core muscles tense your abs while walking, if it isnt too painful. hope its of some help.

Actually, he's 6. It took a year for the incision to heal completely and another year for the doctor to clear me for abdominal exercises. I've been kinda lazy before now, because of the pain it caused.

No exercise in particular. They say that you need to burn calories to lose weight so I just move it, move it, move it.

Simply for weight loss, cardio is the way to go. Getting your heart rate up for 30 minutes about 4 or 5 times a week should get some results in a matter of a few weeks. In addition, walk as much as you can. I live in an area where I can't walk the neighborhood, but I do things like park farther away when I go places, and take the stairs instead of the elevator. Those little things don't seem like much, but they really add up. For abs, I have the same problem with a c-section scar. What I do is put a pillow or folded towel under my butt and lay on my back. I lift and extend my legs slowly, holding them out just above the floor. That really works the lower abs where I need the most toning since the c section. I don't do it for long- maybe 5 to 10 minutes of working the abs 2 or 3 times a week. I don't want to over do it because it can really be painful and that may tempt me to quit altogether.

I am told weight cut should start with diet. We must use healthy oil, and eat more vegetables. But the conventional cooking and food are mostly leading to trans fat, a new term for me. Unless we are set for a change in diet and food, no more frys, coke and instant coffee, bread and cake, only briefly boiled vegetables, there seems to be no way to get rid of the trans fat, which is likely to rest around our middle part of the body. Now come back to the excercises. Walking is my way, which takes time to see good results. I did lose 8 pounds in an one month travel in hilly areas. But daily 10,000 steps is a challenge in urban areas.

i dont have a large tummy, so i decided to exercise my mid area to build an abs. so what i do.. this is very convenient.. sit on a chair on the edge part of the chair. you can hold your position by holding on the sides of it. then move your feet up and down.. just on the sitting position level.. do this 20 counts. 3 sets. it works to tone down your mid section

I like to jog or walk. I do crunches sometimes. I like to move around alot. But to be honest I really don't exercise a whole lot anymore.
