I saw different people prefer different exercises before jumping into the pool. I am confusing what kind of exercises is so useful for swimming. Do you have some good tips about your warm-up exercises? Thank you.

hey mjanne, you would need an overall warm up of your limbs because you're going to want to be loose and not stiffen up as soon as you get into the pool! Generally you'll want to do what is known as "active stretching". This is where instead of holding a particular stretch you simply stretch-release-stretch-release etc...For example stretching your thigh, you would bring your foot up to your butt, pull it with your hands for a second or two and release it. If you're feeling energetic you could do something like buttkicks to warm your muscles up even more but the active quick stretches will do you fine. I would recommend about 5-10 repetitions per stretch (or until you feel loosened up) One more thing you can do especially for your shoulders is to swing your arms forward and back and around and around...I do these when I"m getting ready for a race particularly. You would start off slowly at first and then increase the speed to as much as you can to really get your joints warmed up and ready to go! I would be cautious with this one though if you're not used to doing it because you can hurt yourself a little if your note careful! Hope this helped! Let me know if you have any more questions!

I would suggest doing some dynamic stretches before getting going with your workout. You might want to swim a couple of laps as a warm-up "jog" followed by some dynamic stretches. You need to get your muscles warmed up before you stretch. Then quick stretches in higher reputitions are good. Try to keep moving while you are doing your stretches. That will help to keep you warm. Leg swings, arm circles, trunk twists, walking leg kicks, quad stretches, and anything such as that would be good to help you warm up. I hope this helps.

I don't usually do something like stretchings before swimming. I usually play and run with my sister before going to the sea otherwise we do get the mucsle twisted soemtimes.
