what discussion responses make you wanna rip your hair out?

i have been reading a lot of discussions, and i see a lot of responses that, er, don't make a lot of sense. the logic is way too crooked, the conclusion drawn was drawn from thin air (despite a very looong post), and some people immediately (and inappropriately) bare their teeth and stick their claws out. at first, i cringed when i read a lot of crooked english. then i realized i was being too harsh, because they at least make logical posts. but the posts that make me wanna rip my hair out are the arguments that just plain don't make sense. here is an example of such an argument: "ghosts are real. people are capable of life, and of love. they are religious and believe in god. it is just natural that this love is present even after death. people shouldn't stop loving just because their loved ones are dead! that's preposterous! so yes, ghosts are real!" imagine 2 slices of moldy, disgusting bread, with good salami and delicious mayonaisse in between. that'show it looks to me: a lot of good statements used to defend a conclusion that has nothing to do with anything. wow! so nice to get that of my chest. now, it's your turn!

I don't mind a few responses/discussions with few grammatical mistakes but some have VERY crooked English that I just want to......rip somebody else's hair out. Don't blame me! I love my hair even if it's worth ripping out sometimes. Lol I know it's harsh. There are countries where English isn't a primary language, and some just probably put in the wrong words, or unintentionally misspelled a few. I too make a lot of mistakes as far as English is concerned. So I would understand. But some are just RECORD-BREAKING!!! You know what I mean.

yes, i know what you mean... let me stray off topic for a minute here. don't you find it weird that filipinos have a really high literacy rate, and that almost everyone understands and speaks english, yet it seems that this high literacy rate does not correspond to a high gross national product? it's sad, because i notice how filipinos are always good with words, also with english. but somehow, as an exception to the rule (because literacy rates usually correlate to economic success), it's not quite getting there... sigh. and yes, sometimes i read stuff that i can barely understand. i hope i'm nowhere near you when you're in the mood for ripping someone else's hair off. hehehehe :D thanks, dear, for sharing!

Well, we are all entitled to our own responses... as long as they do not violate any mylot rule... and those that "irritate" you might have a different meaning to other people... There are now more than 160,000 members here in mylot... so responses of different levels are bound to come up...

Well, i will just laugh it out loud... because i have learned that some members do create responses that will generate a lot of comments... that is like an attention seeker in the real world... so there is really no use to get emotional about it...

yes, a lot of people really want attention. they try to do anything - offend you, challenge you, insult you, and sometimes they plead to you. it's like most people do what they wish because they're online and noone knows who they are. that's both scary and liberating.

here's one discussion response that comes to my mind... after i asked if divorce should be legalized in the philippines, a guy answers, "in a country where people eat cats and dogs, changing your mate should be allowed." that brought about a lot of violent reactions. and honestly, it didn't make me wanna rip my head off. it was definitely shocking, but he was just being honest. are you a filipino? if you read the above response, how would you react? thanks for sharing! :D

i don't let it get to me. i just let it go after reading it if i find the discussion kinda way off, i do n not waste my time answering such discussions if i know i will be discussing this with a mind like that.sorry, if i don't have anything to share but i just felt i need to say my piece concerning this. i try to make my life simplier by choosing who my friends are and choosing which issues i would like to discuss.

nice one! it does seem like a waste of time to converse with someone who doesn't seem to make sense. the things that get to us are sometimes the things that define us. :D

The ones where they are obviously just responding for the sake of responding.... I actually started my own discussion on one specific response that makes me nuts. When you start a discussion...or go to post on a discussion asking what you like about... or what you hate about... or whether you prefer blank or blank and come across someone who has gone to the trouble of posting "I don't have an opinion." To me, this almost falls into the category of "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - if you replace the word nice with the word productive, it would fit perfectly.

ah, so you've been in this situation before? some discussions are alright, then you read one response that doesn't make sense. it's not an offensive post, but it just doesn't make any sense at all. absence of logic just gets to me, i guess. which is a good thing, doing what i do. you're right, saying "i don't have an opinion" sure is a waste of time! but even this doesn't get to me. it's really those that are full of double talk. good thing you're not one of those people. hehe. thanks for sharing!

haha you got that one right. i find a lot of people who LOVE to stress other people out. people from all walks of life just post messages that they already know will rile you. just because they want to. it's the antithesis of peace. i believe it's people like those that are capable of starting a war! lol :D i try my best, really. it's probably beginner's shock. ;b
