Lower back pain from a Herniated disc

I hurt my back in October and I'm not even sure how I did it. It took me almost 2 months to be able to walk or sit without pain. I have been pretty much pain free since then. Yesterday as I was sitting here at my desk typing. The back pain started to come back. Could I have hurt it again without knowing? I didn't lift anything. These back issues are very troubling and I don't want to end up with a permanent injury. Do you think sitting could injure your back?

posture is the question, it's not sitting by it's self it's how you sit. What I would do if I were you and I was, I'd get a Yoga tape or join a class, you need all those stretches and relaxation to keep your back strong.

Well my posture isnt the best. I know streching would be a good idea. Maybe I will try some yoga.

Oh please take good care of your back! I went through a terrible time with a herniated disc that was pressing down on my sciatic nerve. Eventually I was physically unable to stand up straight because the muscles on that side were shrinking (nerves give your muscles nutrients too). I was very lucky to find an excellent surgeon and am now very well. The most important thing I do to keep my back healthy is to keep my core healthy. This means physical therapy exercises that are targeted and maintaining strong abdominals. Stretching is also important, but the abdominals are key. Be very mindful of the way you are lifting things. Always keep your knees slightly bent and your stomach muscles flexed when you are lifting. Good luck and stay healhty!
