A friend of mine is asking me to visit Ireland with her. I don't know where she got this idea from but since she asked me that before Christmas break, she keeps on asking me about it. So if you are going to Ireland, what places do I have to visit there? I know I could research this on the net but I like a first hand information from people who either live in Ireland or who have been there. That way, you could tell me how it is, if it really is worth the trip and so on. Thanks for sharing.

www.discoverireland.com is the Irish Tourism website..worth a look..it depends on how long you'd be planning on being here and how you'd be getting around..Public transport would work for getting from city to city, but to explore, you'd really need a car..There's a lot of stuff to see, depending on your interests..there's 32 counties,(26 south,6 north)and most of them have some claim to fame, having a major town or city,or something of geographical interest,be it a mountain, beach,or river..I've posted some photos in previous discusions of the area where I live (county Fermanagh!)There's the Belleek Pottery Factory here(Delicate ornamental China, exported worldwide),Lough Erne, one of Europe's largest inland freshwater lakes, good for fishing, boating, and Scenery..Historical sites, monastic Islands,A limestone cave system you can take a tour of,partly by boat on an underground river www.marblearchcaves.net Just remember when coming here, there's 2 Countries and 2 currencies on this little Island..So wherever you fly into, you'll need to change money again going over the border..unless you just plan on using plastic..The Irish Republic uses the Euro Currency,Northern Ireland uses the British Pound..there IS an exchange rate,(not so big at time of writing..some places allow pound for Euro parity) and the further away from the border you get,the less likely the other currency is to be accepted! I'm no expert on tourism, but I work in the Industry and like sharing it with others!

Thank you for sharing. The information you mentioned are really helpful. I have actually looked into Ireland's tourism website. There are so many places to see and things to do and I don't think we'll stay that long to do and experience all those things. SO it's like I'm trying to see which one to go to and which to move to "will do next time" list. :)

It all depends on the time of Year you'd be planning on being here, but for most,Summer would be the time for the best range of activities and events..(not to mention the best chance of avoiding the almost year round rain-what am I saying- it IS Year round rain!) Thanks for best Response!

You're welcome. The information you gave is noted. I actually wrote them down and gave them to my friend for reference.

I lived and worked in Ireland for a short time a few years ago. You definately have to see the Cliff of Moore. You can take a day bus trip from Galway or you can stay in a little irish town called Doolin and go from there. You have to go to Blarney castle and kiss the Barney stone, since it is the irish tourist thing to do. Killarny is nice too. I liked Clifden too. Cork is a nice larger city in the south of Ireland. You definately have to visit Dublin. It is busy, but it is a must. You can see the Book of Kells in Dublin too. It is beautiful there! I hope you have fun!

Ireland is known as the Emerald Island because it is really green. Northern Island has the amazing looking Giant's Causeway that is very picturesque indeed. The Republic of Ireland has the stunning city of Dublin. I so enjoyed visiting it and found ti really friendly. I would love to go to Cork because one of my friends lives there. I have seen her photos and think Ireland is beautiful. I would fly there and travel around Ireland by train. If you go there with your friend I hope that you will have a lovely time.

I've seen a short video already about the country. So far, we are really planning where we are going and what we are doing.

Ireland is so beautiful. I went there when I was 12. I dont remember every place I went but Dublin is a nice place to go. And you should go to the Blarny stone and kiss it, its suppost to be good luck if you do. If I could find my stuff from when I went I could tell you more places but since that was 11 years ago I dont remember everything.
