other than western people, the Chinese astrology does not calculate the positions of the sun, the moon and planets at the time of birth. it's because that there's no astrology in the European sense in China. according to Chinese mysterious astronomy,a person's destiny can be determined by the position of the major planets at the person's birth along with the positions of the sun, moon and comets and the person's time of birth and zodiac sign. there are twelve animal signs of zidac represent twelve different types of personality. the twelve zodiac signs are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. for example, babies born this year might appear to be an ox because it's the year of ox in 2009. So, what's your chinese horoscope?

well there are much more to chinese astrology than that. for instance, there are five cycles of the twelve zodiac signs. the five cycles are represented by the five elements. they are fire, water, metal, wood and earth. an earth ox will have different characteristics compared to a wood ox. also, for fortune telling/soothsaying, the eight characters of birth is required. these are the year, month, day and time of birth. two persons born on the same day in the same year but different time will have vastly different destiny. btw, i'm a wooden rabbit i.e. born in the year of the rabbit in the wooden cycle. cheers

i won't call myself an expert in this area. these are very basic knowledge. think my advantage here is that i'm chinese. i live in a predominantly chinese where more than half the population is chinese. so i guess it's the exposure that gives me these information. cheers

I am not a believer in the fortune telling properties of the Chinese horoscope or the western one either but I am a firm believer in both as far as the characteristics of the signs, I think they are both pretty much spot on.
