In most menu systems, say firefox as an example, menu items can be accessed in the manner of alt+B for Bookmarks and then Alt+O to "Organise Bookmarks". The menus also give information about Ctrl + D and other shortcuts. Just learn the ones that are most useful to you first. historically applications also use function keys as shortcuts, but there are a bit inconsistent Pressing F1 will get you help in any application

nearly forgot to mention: Ctrl + Z will undo changes in any application, I use this one alot.

In any applications that you use in Windows, they always have these shortcuts and may vary. Just explore the menus and you'll see useful shortcuts while using the program. Or you can just use the "alt" key and automatically, a letter will be underlined, it means that you can use that combination for shortcut -- alt + underlined key. Try it when you're using MS office.
