Why are the people cutting trees?

Why are the people cutting trees? - Why are the people cutting trees? What is bad is like in some tropical countries where they are clear cutting trees to plant palm trees or sugar cane to make bio fuels from and breaking the tropical life cycle and destroying several cultures along with the trees.

Trees as such are a renewable resource when done as most countries do, cut one plant one or two. This has brought many countries to where they have more trees today than they did a hundred years ago. What is bad is like in some tropical countries where they are clear cutting trees to plant palm trees or sugar cane to make bio fuels from and breaking the tropical life cycle and destroying several cultures along with the trees. What needs to be concentrated on is not how many trees are being cut to build things with, but are they planting at least as many trees as they cut to provide wood for future needs. Why are the people cutting trees?

Even there are very strict rules but there are still stubborn people who don't follow rules. What I heard is those businessman who have that kind of business pay those people in-charge of that. So how will they stop if attitude like that always exist?

Trees can be used in many of ways.. (paper, wood-for building purposes, pencils, furniture, etc..) but people seem to be very irresponsible. I mean if you have plans of cutting down those trees, then it's always your responsibility to replace them with new ones.. and please, don't cut those trees that are thousands of years older than you.. illegal loggers should be punished!

Honestly, with all of the new technology that we have, and all of the things that we as human beings can do, there is absolutely no need what-so-ever to be cutting trees. We can make houses out of plastic or other recyclable resources. We can use flash drives now instead for printing every last thing. There is so much that can be done.

I would suppose they need furniture or to build houses. And in some areas, they use wood for fuel and they need to clear land. That is why people used to cut down trees for. Do you expect them to sleep on a forest floor or in a cave? It does make as much sense as wanting the earth to be a gigantic jungle with no people, just wild animals. I do not think it is right to plant palm trees or sugar cane unless it is what they used to do with them, for food or sugar, not for bio fuel. Replacing the trees one cuts is a very good idea.

some of them do it for money, building parking lots and mega casinos some of them do it because they need to supply paper, materials for furnitures etc regulation-wise, government should make it harder for people to cut trees but until it happens, planting one tree after cutting one, will be just the perfect thing to do

Actually we are inviting disaster ourselves by not stopping the cutting trees and most of our needs are based on woody material as in our homes most of objects, furnitures etc. are made of woods. Peoples demanding them in a big quantity among us. So we may also responsible for all this in little quantity. On the other hand Government is not making any implementing policy regarding this and corruption is there a lot.

tree felling - A water color painting by me
I would say,it's an act of foolishness and semfishness. Man in his greed to further his selfish ends has become so blind and unaware of the consequences of felling the trees. An injured ecology will wreak vengeance to the mankind thorough floods, typhoons an Tsunamis.

Money, that is why they are cutting down trees sometimes trees that are hundreds of years old. Most countries have very strict logging laws which prevent trees from being cut down, but exotic wood, especially old trees are worth a lot of money, many countries only buy wood from sustainable forest in an attempt to prevent deforestation but if something is very profitable there is always someone out there willing to bend the law, but this can't be the only reason. Many of the people that are planting palm trees etc in these deforested areas are subsistence farmers which means that they live off the land and how can you go against them if what they are doing makes the difference if they and their children have food and shelte r or not, right now palm oil, sugar cane ... is paying more then most other crops and sometimes it is the actual governments who stipulate how many hectares of forest may be cut down to increase their national production. The fact that in certain parts of the world new forests are replacing old farmland as the trees are worth money, and previously farmed crops do not cover expenses, the problem is that these are commercial forests with little if any biodiversity. Only when the forests are worth more money as they are then when they are cut down, will this stop, in areas of bio tourism this allows local people to benefit from the forests and this makes them very protective. This may seem cynical, there are many people who are conciousness and fight to preserve things not for financial gain but because it is right thing to do, and if enough people do so mentalities change, and it can change the world it has been done before, the protest against the needless slaughter of whales, the use of furs etc Everyone can do something, there are many organizations that are replanting forests and if you prefer the personal touch you can plant a tree, have an orchard even fruit trees help, trees work as the lungs of the world they absorb CO2 and expel oxygen so even a small tree is something if enough people start doing something who knows.

Well here in the UK I can see where they would be cutting trees to make paper. In both the National Government and Local Governments they have so many paper shufflers and send out so much useless and repeated rubbish that they are wasting probably millions of trees to make the paper that keeps a load of incompetents in their jobs. Rigt now we are dealing with a City Council department. We have provided them with what the asked for in their first letter and since that time - mid- November to be exact we have had probably five more letters asking for the same thing. Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing - Sheffield City Council Housing Benefits Department is a prime example. They are paper - tree wates of the highest order.

I'm sure that even the people that are cutting down trees would like to replant more and save nature, but sadly, I just don't think it's possible anymore. With the increasing population, more products are required all over the world and demand is high for products made of wood, which, as someone else mentioned, include everyday things used like paper and furniture. Knowing how many people are in the world today and the great demand for products made from wood really makes you appreciate those who are taking measures to protect nature (and there are some of them) by renewing trees or practicing methods like selective cutting to preserve the forests. It really is good to know that even now, there are still some people that chose nature over money, but I just wish there were more of them.

LOok Trees are useful in many ways...if we cutting the trees then its not bad rather then we cut trees and don't grow any tree in place of that tree... In My view if we need Tree material for use then we can cut a tree but that is our responsibility that if we cut a tree then we should grow up two tree instead of one tree... HUMAN cant live without tree..... Even HUMAN no one can live without trees.. So peoples grow more trees and use them and make earth Green.. And one more thing PLzzzzzz dont make so much pollution on my lovely earth.......
