I have a nice big computer monitor that went kaput a few months ago. Man, I miss that thing!! But it's sitting here in the computer room doing nothing but taking up space. I don't know what to do with it. So I read about Best Buy starting a recycling program: But they charge for it! $10! Sure, they give you a $10 gift card but I don't want anything that they have. So it will continue to sit here. Our landfill recycles but would charge me $1 for the monitor, they charge $10 to recycle TVs. Why would someone, especially in this economy, want to pay to recycle something?! We all know they can sell the parts and metal for way more than they charge us. What a ripoff!! No wonder people aren't committing to recycling. Do you live in a city that charges for recycling?

Yes, if they think they might be able to make a penny they will. I would take it to best buy if I did nothing more than buy a dvd or printer paper.

Well, I didn't think of those. I don't use my printer much because ink is so expensive but I could use a pack of dvds. Thanks for reminding me! I tend to think of Best Buy in terms of big ticket items, which I have no use for.

Our country is so much into recycling. However they dont charge us a penny for recycling. They just pick up our objects without charging us a cent. I hope that they will never end up charging us for recycling objects. I can undersand why people in your country might not be that enthusiastic about recycling.

Your country is sensible! Here, there are commercials and publicity for recycling but we have to pay for it so who is going to do it? Especially now, when people are losing their jobs and the prices are rising. I have an old tv I'd like to get rid of but I'm not paying $10 to recycle it!
