Ever make home made ice cream?

Did you ever hear of home made ice cream? I have helped in making it a long time ago and I believe that it required a certain type of rock salt. I was wondering if any takes part in making ice cream anymore.

My boys and I use to love making ice cream! Their friends liked it, too, because we found a recipe like this: http://www.makeicecream.com/makicecreami1.html We would roll the can back and forth and make a game of it, it was so much fun! Their friends would always ask if we could make ice cream when they came over.

We made homemade ice cream all the time when I was a kid. I know I've made it as an adult, but I no longer have an ice cream maker. Thanks for the tip of making it in a coffee can. I will have to try it!

I never actually made it. But I do have an ice cream machine and plan on making some soon. I also have the rock salt and other ingredients ready to go.

We make it all the time. It is something my dad has passed down. You just need regular rock salt and make sure to use a good amount to help with the ice. That is the only kind of icecream we eat.
