What type of bag is better for the environment? Clearly, using the reusable bags is the best bet, but if you don't have them with you, which is better? I think the paper bags can be recycled easily, but many grocery stores have receptacles for the plastic bags...what do the grocery stores do with the recycled plastic bags? Can they make new ones from old ones? Thanks for your help!

use of paper bags are better for environment. yes paper bags can be recyled easily and plastic bags are not recycled. making new plastic bags from old ones is not possible i think.the shop people will use new one.otherwise they won;t get many customers to their shop.

I would think the paper bags are easier to recycle as well. Although plastic can be recycled as well but honestly I never see people recycling those. Brown bags on the other hand I see people putting out in the recycling buckets on the curb for pick up.
