I have a Boxer, he's just a year and a half, and he is such a clown, I love him so much!! He is great with all of our assorted extended family members, from my 85 year old grandmother to my 2 month old nephew, he loves other dogs, loves to play, and is a snugglebutt. He thinks he is a lapdog, he's always sleeping right next to me if not on top of me :D In my opinion, they are the most fun dog breed around!

Hey Cortypants. I saw your responses to a few other Dog questions on myLot, and was so happy to see another Boxer owner! I have a Boxer as well. He's 7 months old now and he such a sweetie pie! He was my first puppy--I got him at 6 weeks old and have watched in amazement as he's just gotten bigger. He's very playful and thinks he's a small puppy--he's always jumping over the furniture in our house (how do we break him out of that habit?) and knocking things over. LOL. But he also will just lay down right by my feet and loves to be shown affection. He is the best dog ever!

Welcome to myLot! Well, he just jumps onto my couch and across the ottoman (when he's chasing after my other puppy, a maltepoo). He's not jumping across or on any tables or anything, thank goodness. That's a great idea about the game--I may have to try that! But yes, he is ALWAYS excited to see us. :)

Thank you!! LOL, that will be funny if you teach him Down! and do it while he chases your other dog ... mine will lay down right in mid-run, he ends up with some legs pointing one way, some the other way, and the funniest look on his face! :D

Hello! Boxers are our favorite dog! We have a puppy. He will be 11 months old June 22nd! His nickname is Taz, full AKC name is Sir Bailey (after his Dad) Hill Taz. lol We named him after our first two boxers, Titus and Zimm. Then, we figured out his ful name with the street he was born on and his father's name. He does not stop very often throughout the day and is very smart, and funny. We have discovered that he loves to chase water when we spray the graden hose. It is so funny. He hops like a rabbit, chasing the end of the water drops. He will be able to go to the lake soon, as it is warming up now. :o) So many things they do are a riot. Clowns! Oh, yes, Taz thinks he is a lap dog, too. lol Love your discussion! :o)

Hi, Maryanne!! I just love boxers, can't wait til I can move with my boyfriend into a bigger house so we can get another one. He loves to play with all dogs, but he gets CRAZY excited when he sees another boxer .. I guess it's because he can recognize his own breed? When he plays with smaller dogs they get scared sometimes because of how he jumps around, so he loves when he sees another boxer to play with, then he knows they'll play like he does! Mine loves to swim in my niece's kiddie pool, and in the creek down the road, and is always guarding the kids in the neighborhood! LOL. Fantastic dogs, I'll never have anything else!

Hello! I apologize for not coming back right off. I am always too busy. Yes, we love boxers, too. We are going to get him a friend once we have enough money to do that. Sometimes, we find a free one that someone has to give away and we take him or her in. :o) they are the best, almost like humans with their personalities. :o) Taz loves to go in the lake and he loves to go into the shower. Can you believe that? The shower. lol I hope you are having fun with yours. Have you moved yet? :o) Take care. PM me if you would like to. Have a great night and weekend! Mary-Anne

Hi cortypants - I do not have a boxer but my ex-husband's family used to have one and they just love boxers! I can see why you love them so much. They are cute. When I was two years old my parents bought a miniature schnauzer, named Margo. They picked this breed of dog because my mom has bad allergies. Miniature schnauzers do not shed at all, along with a couple other breeds like poodles. This particular one that we had lived until she was 17 years old... and I was 19 at the time we had to have her put to sleep. :( We also owned another schnauzer too during that time, named Muffin. She only lived until she was 9 though because she started having really bad seizures which the vet couldn't get under control. :( I bought a miniature schnauzer, named Sunshine, that I have now. He just turned 6 years old last week! He is such a goof ball too. You can see a pic of him on my profile page.

Hey Corty! As you know I have a boxer named Tela :) She is a very special girl, not only because of her breed but because she is the first FEMALE dog that I have ever owned. Even my other relatives on my mother's side have never had a girl dog. SO she is truly something special. I cannot wait to see how she turns out as she gets older. :)

Very sensitive to suspisous people. They are so smart. They can be a handfull but still my babys. They love to cuddle and hug and kiss. And they love each other so much. They are deffinatly the best breed of dog ever.

I forgot to say that my male boxer has seizures. And it is the most horrible thing to see a dog that size go through that. HE is on a pill right now and he hasnt had a seizure in 3 weeks. He was having them every 2 weeks. The vet thinks he is epileptic. I noticed on other boxer logs it is really a common thing with boxers. Have you ever had problems with your boxers?

Hi, Heather!! Luckily my dog has no health problems so far, but he's only just turned 2. I read that Boxers can have heart problems, eye problems, cancers, etc ... but luckily mine seems to be healthy. My uncle had a retriever that had seizures, but they were well controlled through medicine and he lived to be about 10-11 years old. I would love to get another boxer for my boy to play with, right now we don't have the room though.

Boxers..they are the best! My boxer was my first dog :3 her name is sugar and she's just crazy. I'm sure all boxer owners know this but their favorite toy seems to be a simple upturned cup. My dog can play all day long with it lol. She puts her paw inside a cup and slides it around the floor all day long haha. She seems to like my dad the most in the house and really sucks up to him! When he comes home she seems to forget about other people in the house and actually climbs on top of him and just stand there blocking his view and she expects him to pat her. She also bites/growls at people if they don't let her lick their face or show affection towards them. She refuses to sleep anywhere except for on the bed. I really love this dog =D.
