Website Promotion

I have just made my first website and would like to know if anyone out there knows how to promote it so I can get a lot of traffic. I want to know how search engines will pick it up. I have heard the term "being crawled" by a search engine and I would like to know how that works specifically. I have learned a little about submitting my website to search engines and have done so to several, even google, but I still don't get my website picked up on their searches. I think I need to promote my website by writing blogs and posting them but I am unsure how to make that work properly. If anyone knows how to properly promote a website please share your advice.

You can visit other blogs and comment on them and on the website URL space provided, put your website there. That somehow adds up as a pseudo back link - and it becomes more visible. Also try Qassi, you create content (short ones) for them and in exchange, they'll give your website exposure :) Sounds like a good trade off. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Two tools that are worth looking at are Web CEO for website optimization and search engine submission, and Artisteer for easily designing impressive blogs. For a unique web promotion strategy check out mytrafficstrategy developed by David Lockley (Not me, BTW :-)).

Thank you for your responses. I have submitted to several search engines but I have done so manually, I haven't used any kind of auto submitting software if there is such a thing I would like to know. I have been writing blogs and articles with links to my webpage as much as I can and it seems to help but I think you just have to keep with it until you really get the different websites saturated with your content. At least that is what I have been getting from all the reading I have been doing. Does this sound right?

You have really given me some advice that I can relate to. There are so many things to consider when promoting and making money with a website that it can get overwhelming. I actually have the web ceo but haven't fully figured it out yet. I will also look into the blogging tips. I would like to know what affiliates you like to use if you woudn't mind telling me. You could pm it. I have found that almost every company there is has an affiliate program it just has to be one that works with your website and sells good. Please send me any more advice; you have been very helpful!!

Here's a great tool for finding and making comments on blogs that are within your niche. The free version might be sufficient for your need to generate backlinks to your money sites. Otherwise, a paid version is available: fastblogfinder dot com

It can take a few weeks before your site shows up on the search results. It takes awhile for the site to be crawled so just give it time.

If anybody is interested in building their own website then I have found a great place to get started. You can get your domain name and have your website hosted all for free. I even use their software to build my site. I can use other software if I want to. I am going to check out Dreamweaver. Anyway I used this site to build my first website and I am very satisfied with it. Everything has been totally free!
