In last nights show a priceless 1st edition pair sneakers were stolen from a collector. Later in the show the FBI thought the pair had gotten mixed up with a whole bunch of knock-offs, so of course they went to Charlie for a solution to finding the right pair when an expert couldn't tell the difference. He came up with a couple of ideas that would have meant damaging the shoes which were ruled. So then he came up with one using light that could image the materials the shoes were made from and tell the difference that way. However he said they would need another authentic pair of the shoes to do it and so they made a big show of a pair(or maybe just one shoe) being brought in inside a locked metal briefcase with an armed guard and cardfully being handled with gloves. He was wrong and the authentice shoe was not needed. All he had to do was to compare shoes from the knock-offs and as long as there was a match between say the left shoes, then both were knock-offs. When he had two that were different, then one would be the real shoe and a couple of comparisons with others would be enough to tell which. Super genius Charlie made things more complicated in this case by not being as smart as he thought he was.

This episode was awesome. The whole thing was fun, funny and amazing. I especially loved the end when the guys son found the sneakers in a closet, saw they were his size and put them on and went outside to play basketball. I thought it was amazing that people would build vaults like that for shoes. I can't believe that shoes would be worth all that fuss.

I guess one guy's DiVinci is another guy's Nike. Do agree with my point about them not needing a authentic shoe to separate out the pair from the fakes? Yes, that was funny about the kid using them and on a wet court to boot.

The part about the original being scanned and all that to sort out the fake really went over my head. Usually I at least have a slight grasp of what Charlie is trying to say.
