Just how addicted are you?

I knew I was addicted but I didn't realize I was so addicted! Other night, I was sitting in my easy chair with my laptop in my lap where I had been typing. And I had the television on with the menu of the stations (I have DirecTV). I was on the phone with my husband and I started to scrolling down on the television menu, but nothing happened. I tried a couple times. Then I began to laugh!! I was actually pushing the down key on my laptop rather than the down key on the remote! Is that a sign I'm getting old, losing my mind, or too much on my mind? OR, am I just plain addicted to this keyboard? My husband and grandkids think I stay on it constantly, which isn't half true. I do get up to eat, wash clothes, wash dishes, and sleep. Well, most of the time. I guess I am addicted, but I'm not always on Mylot. I have a website, a blog, and lots of friends who keep me in email, along with all the spam messages. Yes, if your name is in cyberspace, you get emails you would rather do without, but it doesn't take away the addiction. I just love computing and I'm honest! Are you as addicted as me?

I only need one word for to answer this so I have to pad it out a little lol. I'm guessing you have guessed what the word is...I'm even enjoying this little game of writing something amusing when I only need to use one word. I have to sit at the table though. I tried sitting in my arm chair with my feet up and that didn't work, I tried the armchair with my laptop on a little table and that didn't work. I tried my laptop while sitting up in bed and that too was really uncomfortable after about a minute. So I have my office chair at the dinner table and I can see into the lounge room where the TV is right in my line of sight. The remote works from where I sit as well...heheheheheh. Oh, am I as addicted as you? YES!!

MsTickle, yes, I knew what that word was. And I certainly understand padding the response!! I guess I should have asked how everyone is addicted since I know we aren't supposed to ask yes or no questions. I think you did good!! And we are both still addicted. But actually I think it's a good addiction. Keeps us out of trouble, doesn't it!

I am to a degree. I do alot of MyLotting and play some games but I've been tapering back somewhat. At the same time, I don't do satelite tv, cell phones, ipods, blackberries or the tons of other gadgets that seem so popular these days. My only electronic addictive item is the pc. We have DirecTV because we only get about 2 channels good with an antenna where we live. And we have cell phones, but no iPods or blackberries. Not really into those kind of gadgets. But I do love my laptop! I hardly ever get on my PC anymore.

Sparks, my husband is on his PC lots when he is home, working on them, working on changing music files to whatever so he can play the guitar with them. So I don't feel bad when I'm on the computer. We do eat, have clean clothes and a clean bed, so I guess that counts for lots. For you, though, I guess it's more entertainment, isn't it? Well, we are glad you like this entertainment; otherwise, we wouldn't have some good stuff to read!!

i also try to change the channels in the TV by using my mobile phone. I press 1,2,3 on mobile keypad and later find that i have to use a remote of that TV to change the channels.

Now that is really an addiction to your mobile phone! I haven't gotten that bad yet. We haven't had service in our area good enough to get service in our house until recently. I was talking to my daughter on the cell phone coming home from church and walked on in the house talking to her. But I did put it down before coming into the Den. I think it's too small, though, to get mixed up with the remote control.

hahahha! I THINK I'M ADDICTED TOO! You see, I'm still schooling right now, means I'll have homework everyday, and that I've got to study for exams and all. Right now is a really good example. Exam's coming up in exactly 3 weeks' time, and I haven't started on anything yet(as usual)! No matter how hard I try, I just can't keep my eyes off the computer! My computer is just sitting here, right beside my study table where I do my studying and school works. Everyday I get back from school, this would be the first place I go to. After putting down my school bag and stacking my homework for the day on the table, I would just turn towards the computer and turn it on! Plus, when I'm doing my homework, I keep getting distracted by the computer. It's like there's something which is attracting me to it, and I just can't stop myself from turning towards the computer and seeing if I have any new e-mails or messages! actually, I sort of need help with this 'addiction' of mine here too:(

You gave me a good laugh. I get up in the morning, come through the Den, and usually stop and turn my laptop on before I fix my breakfast! I use every minute I can between doing things in the house to check my emails, too. But, now I'm not addicted enough that I couldn't leave it to go on a vacation. I'd welcome that distraction!!

Personally I find that it is quite easy to become addicted to the Internet and myLot and spend most of your time online. There are many days that I can say except for when I am at work, or sleeping that I will spend most of my time online in myLot. When I feel I need a break I will go in and check Email, etc. but since I am really wanting to break a record again in here for earnings I am trying to spend as much time as I can in here for sure. And I have the opposite effect really. If I am just sitting around not really doing anything my husband will ask me what is wrong with my Computer, and why am I not in myLot earning some $$.

Yes, it was definitely funny! When I'm watching TV by myself, I have the remote on the right side of my chair so I can just hit the button. But I was typing and just happened to start trying to use the down button it instead.

I have other interests, too, like reading and grandkids. But, like you, I do mylot and another money-making place and I try to keep up with all my friends in email. I also love to do genealogy, which I have neglected lots this year. Need to get back to that, but that also involves using my laptop.

I've even admitted I'm addicted, (but could quit anytime), however I'm on holidays and its a Great hobby. I'm a senior who lives and works in Ontario Canada in the summer, and I own a mobile in an RV Park in Alamo (near McAllen) Texas where I spend 5 months each winter. My laptop is always handy,so why not sit and spend a couple of hours twice or 3 times a day? Of course I never miss my 3/4 hour of Yoga each morning, a half Grapefruit (picked from my own tree) at Breakfast, and a daily workout at the Park Fitness Centre. Its a wonderful Life, I love every minute, and myLot is the perfect addiction!

Hey there Barb42 I would really miss my pc and the internet if for some reason it wasn't accessible to me even though I would get a lot more things done around the house but no one seems to be complaining!! My kids have food on the table, clean clothes on their backs and plenty of activities I take them to so they are not missing out on anything much whilst I am drumming away on the keyboard of my laptop! So yes I would say that I am pretty much addicted to my computer and the internet!! To be honest I am usually only on it when the kids are at school and in bed asleep but occasionally I nip on just to check something out!!

Humbug, some people say 'get a life'. I say to them, 'I have a life and I'm enjoying it. You should try it sometime'. People who don't have computers just do not know what they are missing! Now, I wasn't as addicted when I used only my PC. But my laptop has ruined me!! My PC hardly ever gets used anymore.

Hi Barb42, no I don't think you're an addict. I' sure you were disctracted on the phone, and didn't realize what you were doing, that's all. Thak care.

Actually, the phone didn't distract me. I was trying to scroll down the menu before I was talking on the phone. I just happened realize what I was doing and why it wasn't working while I was talking. We actually got a big laugh out of it. I'm always doing funny things like that, but not to that extreme.

I'm definitely addicted! Its the first thing I do in the mornings and the last thing I do at night. When I go out and come back I turn my lap top on straight away and see if I have any emails. I also dream about the last thing I was doing on the computer sometimes. I used to argue with my partner about him using my lap top so now he has his own computer:)

That is a funny story. My time is so limited . I try to do an hour before work and during my lunch hour and sometimes a little time after work. But I do not have Internet connection at home so I am limited. Would I spend more time? Yes, I really would as I have got to know so many friends out there in cyberspace and I enjoy hearing about their lives too. I also get many unsavoury emails but just delete them and pout them in blocked senders list. Receiving these emails will not stop me either! so I admit it. Am addicted to Mylot.

I was quite slow into mylot at first when i joined. But after 2 months and achieving my qooth posting, i became quite addicted and now i am very consistent in mylot where i would log-in at least once or twice a day.
