Raising the standard of Education and bringing disciplines back to the temples of learning was in the interest of the students themselves.A young man securing high percentage of marks in the examination by adopti ng unfair means of copying and bribing the examiners is good for nothing. These practices show that the students want only degrees and not knowledge. Realisation comes only when they come to the employment market. It is too late to repent then. The whole system has become vicious circle of people who would practice shortcuts, preach and teach shortcuts and those who have to use the shortcuts.Colleges and Universities have rather become centres of corrupt practices leading to degrees that serve no purpose.

I am in college at the moment and for the most part I agree with you. I want the degree and some of my classes I only learn the information to pass it and then move on to the next course. However, I don't cheat. I earn my way by studying and memorization. I want the degree and thats all. When I came to college I was ready to learn like I used to be in high school. However, by my junior year I was just plain sick of school and I want to get out in the real world and get to work. I love to work and I miss it. I know others like me who just want our degree and the move on. I fully agree with you that people should not cheat their way through or take short cuts to get through. Thats not right at all. I may just want to get out, but I at least learn the material enough to pass.

A Bachelor of Art at a 2:2, a Bachelor of Science Honors at a 2:1 and a Bachelor of Education Honors at a 2:1 are possible desired ends to studying for years. Some degrees are useful like one would make a person a vet, a dentist or a teacher. Some are more general and less based on entering a particular profession. Like a degree in American Studies taken in England or a degree in Theology taken in Australia. Students want their degree and it is sad if some of them cheat and get it without all the necessary knowledge.

I fully agree with you. Students these days want degrees and good percentage so that they can lend a good job. To get these, they are ready to adopt any right or wrong means. From day one of their job, they want salary in 6 figures. It is not important for them if they have necessary knowledge and skill for that job.

Perhaps you are being called to a path. Perhaps the passion you have for the education system in India is a calling to do something about it. Have you looked into what it will take to have such a movement?
