I am 100% sure this will never happen to me but since you are asking, if this ever ever happens, I will choose family of course. They have been there ever since the day I was born. Who would ever choose their career over family?

I chose my family and that is what made me a stay at home mom, because I have not been able to find a real job since then. I became a manager at a resturant and realized I was spending every waking moment at that place! I never got to see my family except for in the morning when I brought the kids to school and day care and then they would be in bed before I got home. After about a month I told my boss I couldn't do this anymore. For one I didn't have the full training of the job so I was trying to learn as I went. I would be there everyday at 8am and would leave there until 1am the following day and then turn around and be right back at 8. I really loved my job, but I loved my kids even more and it hurt me knowing I felt like other people were raising my kids. I still wish I had the job, but what can I do....Family is definitely my number one priority!

I do not understand that if you are successful with your career how can you be a failure to your family? If one is not successful in his or her career how can they support their family to make them happy? If I am faced with such a situation and have to choose between my career and family, I will choose my family. What will I do with a successful career if I do not have a happy family?

I struggle with that every day. I am up at 4.00 am every day just so I can fit everything into my day. I am in the process of working on a writing career after graduating from a freelance journalism course and it is a very delicate balance to be there for my daughter, take care of my home and husband and follow my passion. It's what I hate about being a woman! It's tough but I could not be doing anything else. It will get easier and in the meantime I've got to keep going because my family and my career are everything to me. I think it is important for women to remember that you can ask for help and everything does not have to perfect; dust has never killed anyone and take-away every now and again won't hurt!
